What a time to remember. The original guys R I P
I used to see GK at the Kroger at Trinity Commons in Cordova. I must’ve run into him at least three times in the store, just pushing his grocery cart along. He was always gracious. It always felt strange to me. I don’t know why, George never was a rich man I guess, but I mean this is a guy who had an open door at Graceland or Elvis’s suite at the International. He was a radio icon in Memphis. Last time I saw him was at the same Kroger, but this time we were both filling up our cars out at the gas pumps. We for some reason talked about Steve Cropper for a couple of minutes, I think Steve was in the news for something about that time. Anyway, that was the last time I saw George. I was saddened to later hear of his passing. RIP GK. As for Jerry Lee, I missed my opportunity. He’d had a stroke a couple of years before he died, and was in rehab in the same facility as my mom. I’d see his wife Judith’s black Mercedes with license plate Killer7 out front some days, and I wanted to bring my mint Sun records 45 up to have him autograph it. I procrastinated until he was released and lost my opportunity.
Real Gentleman. Great Person, R.I.P..Jimi❤❤
Wow. So cool to hear Scotty Moore talk about this period of Rock N Roll history.
💔💔💪🏼
❤️🩹
Elvis should have been induction long before this. He was, is and always will be the best.
2 Legends !
West betrayed elvis lets be honest, he sold out with his book panning elvis and sadly elvis never recovered.
Thanks R.T. Scott for sharing your Heart & Art with the World 😎 May you R.I.P. my friend ✌
Out of all of the Memphis Mafia, (as well as Joe Esposito), I would be far more inclined to believe Red West and his recollections about Elvis and working for him over Marty Lacker, Lamar Fike, Sonny West, even Billy Smith. There was an authenticity about Red West when he's telling the truth. I do believe he loved Elvis like a Brother, and you can love someone as a Brother and still do what he did after he was fired. I hope he regretted them but also came to terms with what he did as well. RIP Red West
The rock and roll hall of fame is a joke and has no credibility. Elvis should have been the first one inducted.
Unbelievable singer !! But when he had his cosmetic surgery, they should have done a full physical and maybe would have caught his clogged arteries.. soo sad 😔 that he's gone!!
Southern Belle,❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you both for sharing & posting! 😊
“Chuck started runnin’” Priceless absolutely!
Wow ! A cat who was there telling the soul. WC Handy-Willie Dixon-Little Walter. No doubt the Al Jackson jr shuffle. Wow!
He played the piano throwing his arms around.
This was before his stroke i think.
I don’t think they wrote the book to help him l think it was to get back at him for the way that they where sacked as for helping him yes right it did that alright into a early grave it was done out of nastiness
He don't need to be in it
Man they make a great sound
One of the most moving stories about the time when Dixie and Elvis were dating was when the Blackwood Brothers had their plane crash, killing two of them, and how devastated both Elvis and Dixie were when that happened.
Muito bacana doroty.sou muito fã
Needs closed captioning option for those hearing impaired.
George is cool as hell, gotta love Muck. I didn't realize he had the high IQ but I could tell he has high emotional intelligence.
George Klein was a great friend to Elvis, I met GK across from Graceland walking out of the gift shop in 2006. He did a shout out to my town when he got in the Sirius radio Elvis booth when he DJ’d, We walked to the car right after talking to him and as we we left driving in front of Graceland he did the shout out, it was really cool. He gave me a business card from a Casino he worked at in Tunica, Mississippi, on the back of it is a picture with Elvis and GK, I still have it.
What a nice interview
Its only Priscilla keeps on thelling the world how manipulative, controler and so on Elvis is.. in every interview i landed about Elvis its nothing bad good. She le too much that she belives her own lies. Shes slept with currie grant just to meet elvis at 14 years of age. The child book says it all. The guy took advantage of that which is not good when he is 28 years old. Much older than Elvis.
One of the greatest guitarist’s of all time. Period.
That's a wonderful interview! Elvis most likely felt the same for Dixie that she felt for him. A lot of respect and kindness and care!!!❤🎉❤🎉
RIP to the great George Klein & Our Queen, Denise LaSalle.
Rip pal. Thank for the music and the great memories!!!
Elvis married the wrong woman he should of married babara and had a family and be happy ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Barbara dated elvis in the 50tis its a shame she never married elvis and elvis s mom and dad liked barbara verry much ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
George Klein was awesome. Elvis called George 'GK' which was cool. May Elvis, George and Red all rest in peace.
Loved listening to her; followed her career from "The Ron and Steve Show" all the way to "Bill and Mel In the Morning". That gal's syrupy-sweet voice made a teenage boy's heart--and other things I can't say--fairly throb with delight. Have some clips on cassette somewhere of her tantrum over the famous Eagles "April Fool" prank that caused her and Ron to storm out of the booth during the show, and of Mel announcing the big winner of the contest to rename Oldiez 98. Sure some imaginative people in Memphis: you oughtta heard her announce the long list of losers.... "Booger 98"--heh.
Maybe thats why despite firing his friend lamar fike over and over he kept him from the very start until the end of hi career. Because Gladys liked lamar like a son and made him promise to keep an eye on Elvis. Elvis told everyone in the Memphis Mafia hands off on Lamar.
'Close personal Friend' What a great album! and great to see RJ still rockin'!
Great story, but wasn't Red one of the authors of the book that tried to take Elvis down...nice friend.
There's a lot of crap here in this interview. Klein loved to tell whopper fish stories as he got older and his memory turned to Memphis mush.
George Klein had great wisdom to do these shows. He clearly states to Red at the end that now this story (or as Red said, "part of it") is on video "many years from now, young people" will be able to pull it out from the video library and there he will be telling all about it. It turns out that it's even more important than that as the entire world can easily watch it on CZcams. I'm glad we have this footage, but sure wish we still had THEM. Merry Christmas 12/24/23 - JD Myers
rest in peace🕊️ she is with elvis now
How was Don’s eyesight back then ? As far as I know now he can’t hardly read. Around 2:40 says : I don’t see them , but talk to them .. I suppose he means the phone- I wish him many more years in good health .
Terry Mike Jeffrey . . . what an incredible musician and voice.
Rest peacefully Mrs. Hearn. Thank you for sharing these precious moments of your life with us.💛
This Brother was the Motown sound.
Louis Paul was one funny man. I met him in 1998...I was the assistant manager at Mapco Express in Memphis, Tn, and he was the armed security guard who was hired to guard us from December to January. For two weeks, he kept me in stitches as I worked...he had a lifetime of stories to tell...he was just so FUNNY! My boss decided that he did not like Louis, and one night I came in...and we had a different guard. I asked where Louis was...and he said..."he ain't here no more. I'M here now!" I thought to myself "well, we'll just SEE about that!" I called the security company (I was the night manager) and told them that I did not feel secure with any other guard that they had but Louis. I said if he was not at my store in thirty minutes, I'd cancel the security contract. Now here's the thing. YES I was a manager...but I could not have cancelled that contract if I wanted to. I didn't have that kind of authority. BUT THEY DIDN'T KNOW THAT! LOL Louis showed up 15 minutes later, and told the kid to beat it. We got around my boss...I would let Louis leave a half hour before my boss came in to work. He asked my how I pulled that off...and I told him what I had done. He knew I was risking my job to get him back there... He was my friend for the rest of his life...and yeah...that risk was well worth it. I regret nothing...and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. RIP Louis...till we meet again.
