I just got accepted as a tech 1 at 18 years old. I was planning on going to school for electrical technology but this caught my by surprise. Should i peruse school in the near future or should i stick as a tech for a while since im already in a company and can be making good money/getting experience at such a young age. I need some good advice.
Got a couple questions for you man 😁Number 1. Is being a maintenance tech hard ? I’m thinking about taking this on as a job but don’t have any experience at all. Also what’s the salary like for an entry level typical maintenance tech ? Around like $30 bucks an hour I assume?
Maintenance tech is not a job that everyone can do and the difficulty scale varies on the industry that the plant is in. Though the maintenance request 7 out of 10 times itll be clearing a fault, rehoming the machine and seeing what caused the fault; incorrect part placement, faulty sensor, operator hitting a button they shouldn't. then you fix the issue that could take 5min to god only know when. If thinking critically and problem solving comes easy to you then 70% of the job will be easy, the rest is working with you hands. To get into the field is easy and difficult, go to your local community college/ votech school and sign up for industrial maintenance, look for a work ready schalorship and there you go. or work for a plant and show that you can be a maintance tech and they might bring you on as an apprentice. There is no place that will hire someone off the street with no maintance experince unless you have worked in other trades or have schooling. Pay depends on area, where i live apprentice pay is 23/hour and top out is 33/hour, this is "rural" pay. bigger citys in my state are 28-30 apprentice and 40ish top out. TLDR: Yes, if you are good at problem solving. Go to school, its the easiest and fastest/could also get paid for going. Depends on where you live think more around 20/hour to start.
I carry a multi tool and a flashlight all of the time. I always have a tool bag with me if I go on the floor. What I can't get through to the young techs, is carry extra stuff besides tools. I have : #50 master and half links, cotter pins, bolts and nuts, wire ties, etc. Its saved me from having to go back to the shop a hundred times during a breakdown.
Missing some tools there…
Thanks for the advice. I'm starting school in the fall and I can't wait!
Anytime! Im super happy for ya!
**whispering** "He touched the Butt!"
Thought it was bullets raining down
What brand of boots are those?
They are keen, definately been my favorite so far
Hi I work as a technical recruiter for flextronics, we have job opened for over 40 staffs, we are currently hiring for the position of Automation Technicians, in Austin, TEXAS. Kindly send me a reply if you're interested.
Facom makes a 4 in 1 quad box style set of wrench’s. 8 sizes for 2 wrenches. 90% of the shit I need to fix something fits in my back pocket. The less the better
I think the 10mm rumor only stands for auto mechanics. I got all mine.
Where did u get the 3 punches that you should last
Harbor freight has been my go too for a while now, it comes in a bigger set
"I don't want that on my conscience" 😂. Bro, they got money for conveyor belts - the plastic scraper is a good idea though.
Thanks for the tour. Great idea to hit the pawn shop. I’m brand new looking to build a tool collection
Throwing your stuff down removes any credibility you may have had. 👎🏻
Such a beautiful guitar. Some dude wept over that break.
waiting for and advance! good luck!
How did you get on with the repair? All the best 🍻
We could literally swap bags it's funny how nearly identical they are
I work in a to-go tray factory. All the mechanics normally push 44-52 in tool boxes from job to job. Sometimes 10 miles a day. I think I'll find somewhere new to work soon lol. Do you like working in the food industry?
What state are you in?
Anything that is Veto Pro Pack .. is just amazing craftsmanship that is focused with a trades person in mind. I don't need this tool bag but I want to buy it, like a kid in an ice cream shop.
If you come to Canada. Bring that robertson with you. 😀
Ya? Is that just as or more common then phillips up there?
Every maintenance worker should be given a Leatherman Wave
Totally agree!
If u could get a lil closer to your mic but nice video man keep up the tool loadouts
Ill try next time, thanks for tip and comment!
This is what I do for a living at an automotive refrigerant packing plant. I feel your pain brother!
terrible right? haha
The machines aren't as bad as the politics sometimes. I enjoy the mechanical side of things but the higher ups don't have a realistic idea of what is involved in repairs, so they are over loading me. I have a thing for problem solving. I like finding solutions in creative ways. You have to love it, or else you'll hate your life lololol. I enjoy most of it lol 🤣
I completely 100% agree, just had a conversation with another trch at work about the political stuff, its weird sometimes, so much fun solving problems though!

Did you ever get it working? I am in a similar situation although my counter will display zero, but it does not count. If you look at the instructions on the StewMac website, there is a picture of the circuit board (complete with color codes for the counter). FYI, mine disagree from what is indicated, but that might be my problem. It was that way when I received it.
I did fix it, it was the display counter, i had to get onto the schatten website for better instructions, the tech was really helpful and got back to me quickly, heres the link i used schatten-pickups.myshopify.com/collections/coil-winding-machines/products/model-b-coil-winding-machine-kit hope this helps!
Looks a good Quality bag . Why do Americans use Klein and not CK, wera, knipex ...Are Klein expensive or not really
Its out of convenience, klein is sold out in our lowes, its a building supply store, i might try out a wera after my kleins die, but this is my first real bag working in the industry
@@joe-downs thanks from Liverpool England

@@danstoolroom7700 yeah ..very over priced
@@danstoolroom7700 I will treat myself to something by Klein
I currently work maintenance mechanic in a doughnut factory and I hate how new equipment is metric and old equipment is SAE makes my tool cart load out kinda funky
I got a partner that doesn't know the difference.....
Keep up the content man, show what you do Maintenance is overlooked alot but it's an essential job. Be proud to show what you do. Good video
a tip : you can watch movies at kaldroStream. Been using them for watching all kinds of movies recently.
