Sea to Summit xPot Kettle www.seatosummit.com/product/?item=X-Pot / Kettle&o1=0&o2=0&o3=130-41 We're taking a look at the Sea to Summit xPot 1.3L kettle. This kettle is great addition to any lightweight backpacker's gear list. I'm definitely keeping this one around. The only negative I found was that it doesn't pair well with an alcohol stove. The flames tend to creep up around the metal plate ...

Big Agnes Double Z Sleeping Pad Review
Have you ever made that comparison, on extreme vs. lite ?
Did you quit CZcams?
The distance between the top of the burner to the bottom of the pot is too long. Its OK in the US as they burn methanol base fuels but in the UK with Methylated Spirits that we have as fuel it leaves a lot of soots on the bottom of the pot. Need to reduce the distance.
Hey ur kitchen cooker looks fucking dirty man give it a clean man u dirty fucker, from uk
passing to leave a like and one more registered .... congratulations
This is a great video! I have noticed that lots of people begin, but do not complete, the Lone Star Trail. For a flat trail, it must pack a hard punch. Maybe its the repetitive motions? and many can't complete it due to water. I would like to try it someday.
You need to raise your penny stove onto the two pins that go through the little holes in the side, as the flames are far too low, they are not touching the base of the kettle.
On the contrary, I think it's easy to abuse some of the light delicate packing cookware with high heat. This looks perfect to cook your steak, eggs&bacon on. Maybe wrap foil around when outside..?
@@aaronfuentes5919 I have made many of these stoves, and you don't seem to want to take some good advice, so I will just leave it there, go and look at Hiams channel
@@charlietango1635 didn't mean to offend you mister tango. You are obviously correct. The closer the fire, the higher the heat. This cool stove is very versatile. Everyone is a critic& has insight on everything. I was telling the author of this video that there is not just one way to use it, & if you can get by without scorching, it might be beneficial to the longevity of thin lightweight nonstick pans. I work with Sterno gel fuels under schaefer pans everyday. Your advice is great, but your bitter sounding reply made me watch a 2+ min. Video about some random hiams company. I'm sure that wasn't your intention, but if it was then, good play sir. Lol
You have NOT offended me my good friend
Did you have a knee brace? The wrong shoes?
I enjoy your commentary but to say the other pad has no insulation value is just not true though. Trapped air even in even that design and having the body off the ground provides a great deal of warm.
Bro this guy is a junkie fo sure
Glad to know there is a thru hike close by. I have camped all around the area and never knew it was there.
Enjoyed the video keep up the good work be blessed
You might wanna store that stove in a ziplock so you don't get sick :). Just FYI, you can replace the snow peak lid with a jetboil lid and coffee press (just need to shorten the plunger a bit so it doesn't hit you in the face while drinking). Then you can make real coffee and won't need another cup as the JB lid also protects your lips BTW.
That was over years ago. Where'd you go?
not bad but you forgot to put the solid fuel part upside down . it goes well under the alcohol burner it help holding it and protecting from the wind
Love the videos. Thinking about heading out to it soon. I see you are also a Shug fan, as am I!
Nice video good to see the product in person, better than an image
That’s a great demonstration of how this thing works in the back country for real.
Cant hardly hear you is poorly done
Getting inspired! 😀
What is better for use - dry or liquid alcohol?
It's a nice pack,,. my friend has one. But not sure what you are saying about an aspray pack from REI being much heaver. The ospray atmos is 40 oz and a very comfortable pack. As far as ultra light packs, this pack is heavy compared to something like a zpacks made of Dyneema and only 21oz. Again, this is a great pack,.. but not heaver then an ospray and heavy compared to an ultra light pack at 21oz.
Atmos is 4lbs...
does the stand/windscreen really protects high winds?
The cinch cords on the shoulder harness don't seem to do a good job of securing the water bottles. They tend to slip and fall out on the trail when they get jostled about.
Hey Richard, I stumbled across your videos as I was researching the ULA Circuit. Really enjoyed what you posted, and I'm dying to know if you ever managed the JMT! Hope your knee problem is all sorted out, and thanks for your ULA review.
Nice hiking campout. In your video you showed poles laying there at a campsite, I could be wrong but I believe those were left there for anyone who wants to erect a canopy dinning fly can lash these poles together. When I camp in the wild I search the woods for any down trees and usually there are plenty of dead limbs/logs to use. Just my opinion. Thanks ! I enjoyed these hiking camping videos.
I was wonderingt if you have to pay to get on that trail and hike and campout
No sir! It's all free. Just be sure to camp in the designated campsites during hunting season.
Thanks
What a great video. I am getting ready to do it but I am 56 years old. Not that I am going to do 20+ miles a day like you did youngster. koodoos to you. If you do it again in Jan. or Feb. this year hollar. Again Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! I think I might make another attempt later this month before it gets too hot and buggy.
Someone watches a lot of Shug videos. ;)
Sure do! hahaha The man is an inspiration
Was this the same filter you used for the LST?
+Sammuel Cepeda yes it was!
awesome, thanks!
Did you need bear bags? Or can you just leave food in your pack overnight?
+Nick Pewitt I used a stuff sack and hung it in a tree. No problems.
No bear on the lone star trail, but there are rodents
Great hike and some good times. czcams.com/video/9Dxi9hWl_zc/video.html
Can't hear a thing.
+Chris Ripplinger turn up the volume?
How'd you like the Kettle? Just ordered one off of Backcountry.
+Jamie Ferrugiaro I love it. There's a review on my blog and my channel. Check it out and thanks for watching.
Thanks for the review. About 97% sure I'm getting this pack, the other 3% is leaning towards Airx. Gotta love USA made.
+Brohanman M no problem! Hope you enjoy whichever pack you decide to buy.
i have the same stove its one of those rare finds its cheap and it gets the job done ive had mine for two years and its never failed me
I just bought the thermarest and am excited to try it out. It packs nice and the extra ounce shouldn't matter. Hopefully I chose the right one
+RyanDyer4 it's a great pad! I think you made a good choice.
+RyanDyer4 I think so! Thanks for watching!
The switch 8 charger sucks. It doesn't hold much juice for a charge.
+Nemesis Gaming agreed
Am I correct to say that that is the Black Robic color?
+Christopher Bullock yessir it is!
Do you have a trail name?
+Grace Shippen it's Jet :)
Hey! I haven't seen you on youtube in a while
OH MY GOSH THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! I love the video! Really informative and your idea for the hose was fantastic! I live in L.A. so next time you stop by let me know!
+Grace Shippen I will certainly let you know! My mom lives in Lake Arrowhead so I visit SoCal frequently.
+Outdoor Tech Stuff yay!
Can you do a review and demonstration on how to use the Sawyer water filter?
+Grace Shippen of course!
+Grace Shippen of course! I'll film a quick demo tomorrow.
Can you tell me where you got your scarf?
+Grace Shippen got it from Amazon. Just look for shemaghs
Good luck going back and finishing. I did the first half in September. Water filter stopped up, then went back in Jan. and finished. Felt good to finish it. And good luck with your plans for the JMT. Would like to see video on that.
+Bluecollar Backcountry thanks! I'll probably be finishing this coming week if it isn't too muddy.
Kinda sux when your feet get cold. Hard to relax and get comfortable. I always use HEAVY wool socks just for sleeping in, during the winter. I finished this trail in Jan. and the forest was flooded. The only time my feet were warm, was at night.
Awesome adventure you guys had. I live in cypress tx and have been documenting the lone star trails on my channel. I to hike alone and would enjoy the company of a fellow hiker. You ever need a backup hiking buddy just send me a message and we'll see what we can come up with. Cheers mate. TTC
I've always been curious. What is that ring you are wearing?
+Grace Shippen Hi grace! It's my class ring from the University of Houston.
Richard My name is Jeff. Text or call me 361-563-8151. I am hiking the LSHT and need to talk to you about some things. I am also hiking the JMT and the PCT. Need a hiking budding. I live in the Houston area. I am hiking the LSHT for Spring break as a through hike some time around march 13th.
Looks like fun. I'll be doing that section soon.
The hypothermia. I would like a glass of the water. Love it! I say stuff like that all the time:)
Hahaha thanks for watching, Grace!
