At 16:04, the Left is a 79 or 80, the 81's were the first year of the notched fender. Your fenders have the Black reflectors of the 79, so yes, you will need the correct fenders.

If I recall, the fan only turned on when needed. Turning on the AC should turn it on too.

I had a 79 Rabbit 4 spd. It was my first new car after the rusty 67 Beetle I got while in college. My uncle had a blue diesel Rabbit. Fun fact: the Rabbits with rectangular headlights were assembled in Pennsylvania.

Press down on the shifter, then left and up, to get it into reverse. It's a lockout to prevent from accidentally going into reverse when you wanted first.

On that Honda engine you missed the idle jet on top under the screw. If that one is clogged (which it almost always is) it’ll surge under no load and power will be reduced a little under heavy load.

The gasket was for a non hi / lo , that it originally came with .

Tip :Eventually the gas tank will leak at the mounting tabs and drip on the frame. The fix is to have the mounts welded to the tank 360deg around the mount. Use a torch only ti weld . Line the tank after.

Supprized to see a 67 with hi/lo.64/65 pushrod 66/67 typically are overhead cam dual sprocket . 68 first hi/lo . I see by the hi/lo lever the bottom end is 69 or newer . The 68 used a wrench to select hi/lo and had a pointer. I currently own a 64, 67 with later mode H/l trans. And a 68. Owned many more 90s . Good times . Need any advise just ask .

Dang, decent finds for sure. I've gotten a few pressure washers, usually the pumps gone bad, but got lucky with 2 or 3 having good pumps. Mowers usually just ran hard and put away damp, never taken care of, but usually come around easy enough.

81 with early westy front fenders. Late westies are ugly. So you should probably keep those fenders.
