    In a similar boat. Recently sold a GS Quartz and Speedmaster, to leave a 3 watch collection of Explorer 36, Explorer II, and a no date Sub. On the list for a Rootbeer GMT (plus 3 years in for a Pepsi), but also love the new GRNR. If I had to sell to buy it would be the Explorer II. Sub has sentimental value and the Explorer I is just a great watch. And I don’t need two GMT watches. So in your position, the GS GMT would be the one to move on.

    • @FieldDE
      @FieldDE Před 21 hodinou

      Oh, and bracelets all the way. However, I can recommend the Everest rubber straps that use the Rolex clasp though. Have a black one for my Sub, and looking for an orange to fit on my Explorer II (out of stock in my size though). Superb quality and as close to an Oysterflex as you’re likely to get.

      Thanks for sharing. That’s very similar to me ha! The GS is likely the first to go for sure, I’ve accepted that. The GS does give me a GMT option which i feel more comfortable wearing in places I wouldn’t with my Explorers. That’s what’s special about it. The lightweight feel is also great. Stainless steel but quarter!

    Love that collection, love mixing it up with straps too. I have a RubberB strap on my 5 digit sub, lovely fit and allows me easy adjustment in summer. Also makes a very common watch look a little different. I'd keep the explorerII, as that white dial face is not that common, but is lovely. If you can keep to just 3 watches, even if you swap them out, you will probably wear them more, and grow more attached. I'm back down to just 3, and wear them all. The grey GMT is a lovely watch, I can understand the temptation.

    I wouldn’t buy the GMT2. It’s still to flashy and attracts unwanted attention by the wrong people. Especially in whole Europe these days. I was also thinking about to put my name on the list for the gmt2, but then what’s the point in spending that much money on a watch when you can’t wear it without the fear of being robbed all the time. I think you should stick to Explorer 2. It‘s way more under the radar. What about selling the Explorer I and get a Datejut 36 with a smooth bezel, oyster bracelet and black or blue dial instead, if you like to have a date function? The DJ36 is sporty and dressy at the same time. To add more variety you could also add a Speedmaster 57 in green, burgundy or blue. Would be a great 3 piece collection imo.

    • @timemycollection
      @timemycollection Před dnem

      Thank you for that. The ceramic flashy side of it is the problem. The current Explorers are less noticeable and that’s how i like it. You’re right about the GMT Master II

  • @Anonymouslyme1
    @Anonymouslyme1 Před dnem

    Not sure why you’d add a GMTMaster II you’d have three watches that have the same functionality and look very similar. The Explorer 36 adds diversification in size, looks and functionality. A Submariner would be a better option as you don’t have a ceramic bezel nor a diver. The other option would be sell the Explorer II for the GMT. Surely you don’t want 3 GMT watches with 24 hour bezels?

    • @timemycollection

      I know it seems silly to have many of the same type of watch. I’m thinking anytime i wear one of my watches i get what i want from it. Not missing one thing from another watch. Yes, this is why the Grand Seiko is a hit for me. I can wear it in potentially areas you can’t wear anything more recognisable. Plus the date and bonus gmt! With two GMT’s, my current thought process is when i’m wearing a watch, i have all i need. So if i had three GMT’s they would all be different but i still have the date. Gmt function is just a bonus, but what that means is, i could take one watch with me wherever i go. I use to want a diver with 300m wr and realised these 100m watches are more than capable to be on the beach with me of scuba diving diving to 15 meters where i’m allowed ha!

      I see what you’re saying. The Explorer is timelessly timeless kind of thing. The date is on devices for sure. And of course i could check or ask someone. But a personal trait for me, is to forget the date often daily lol. I’ve set up widgets on my phone in a large box and still don’t register the date once or twice in a day. I could ask myself what date it is at 11pm of the same day after asking myself all day 🤦🏾‍♂️ . So the date on a glance is very handy for me. I’m a very practical person and mostly on the move so my phone isn’t always my go to. The explorer II is like an ultimate apple watch / garmin minus the features to me. Great to see another GS fan in the UK. How long after you registered for GS9 did you receive this pack?

      I can’t remember, but they have sent so many things is the reason why. It’s such a nice touch and feeling. Grand Seiko are really trying to connect with their customers. 🙌🏾 Do you already have a GS or are you looking to get one?

    I collect vintage and modern watches. So, i love it when ask what brands my vintage watches are. I have a lot of rare or hard to find watches. But when i want flex , I wear my 1968 Breitling Cosmonaute 819 (Big Eye) 48mm or my Rolex Datejust (Blue Roman) 36mm or my 1950 Omega Constellation. Its not the size of the watch that makes for the biggest flex, its the quality or the stories behind the watch. P.s. Keep putting out good content.

    • @timemycollection
      @timemycollection Před 8 dny

      Yes I agree, I don’t think the size has to be super large to flex or be noticed. History and dials can be the trigger. And thank you for the kind words, i’m trying to put the content out there. But it’s difficult to tall about new watches as I don’t have them haha. So I’m enjoying talking about shared moments on watch enthusiasts ect. I really love the people and channel. Even now, i’m not getting ready for work, imm replying 😂 Have a good day 🙌🏾

    I buy watches that fit my build. 40-42 mm only. Just what makes me feel comfortable.

      I never knew people but watches that fit their built and not only their wrist. Fitting the build has come up a lot. I have a Garmin that is 47mm and it fits me and build well, maybe because the lug to lug is smaller than 50mm. Comfortability is a must for me as well.

    I have always liked smaller watches, which is also why I appreciate vintage models more than modern ones. Obviously I like the watch to be noticed, but only by enthusiasts who are a small percentage of people. Enthusiasts notice watches regardless of size. In fact, the less you notice it, the more curious it makes you to know what watch it is.

      I love the vintage smaller ones. Especially the pre-ceramic models for the same reasons, smaller and less bold. That’s why when they released the Explorer as 36mm, modern engine with an vintage size. It was a must for me. The Explorer II suckered me from out the blue.

    Under the radar for me, my everyday is a christopher ward cranwell series 1 on canvas , The Hamilton day date on bracelet is surprisingly bold but I'm broke. Unless the watch is no a bracelet you pretty much need to get over that 41mm

    • @timemycollection
      @timemycollection Před 9 dny

      Seriously, I was under the radar as well but the Explorer II got me! I think smaller watchers could have a fluted bezel or something that could create the presence.

    I buy watches for my outfits and size it according to my wrist and body frame. I’m 6’3 ft tall and have big wrists, and my flex watches are; Breitling 43mm solid rose gold Navitimer, Rolex Sea Dweller 43mm two tone and my Sky Dweller Blue.

    • @timemycollection
      @timemycollection Před 9 dny

      All of them are heavy hitters 🙌🏾 , do you wear them on the bracelet as well? That would make them really pack a punch on the wrist.

      @@timemycollection yes, on original bracelets, the Navitimer is on a leather band. The Omega 300 you had before I bought, and it’s my “nato monster” lol, I rotate between the original Bond nato and the no time to die Nato.
