It's not illegal and you don't even need to be rich to use it your self. Example, you have a small business. You buy a truck. Lets say your business only make 50k in profit. You turnaround and buy a truck for 80k now you have 80k to right off. Your taxes were 45k. That write off takes care of that 45k in taxes. Now that government will send you a check for 35k for over payment. Take that 35k stick into CDs or high interest bearing accounts.
