North Cap Island
United States
Registrace 29. 10. 2021
North Captiva Island is the most unique vacation destination on Florida's southwest coast. Separated from its southern sister island, Captiva, over 100 years ago, North Cap is only accessible by ferry or boat. Amazing beaches, no cars, only electric golf carts and bicycles, this throwback-in-time paradise feels like a remote Caribbean island without the hassles of international travel. This CZcams channel highlights the various attractions, restaurants, activities, and characters that make this island the best-kept secret in vacation beach destinations.
Shallow Snook on Fly
May is the season for big breeder Snook off North Cap. These beasts can be found in inches of water on the beaches at first light. I'm using a Helios 9 Wt and have caught them on everything from small deceivers, shrimp patterns, and lately, the Game Changer fly in white or Purple when it's darker.

North Captiva Island is growing...

North Captiva Island, off the southwest coast of Florida, is reaching out into the warm Gulf waters. Steady south and westerly winds have created a long, thin sandbar that provides visitors an unusual new nature path. We don't know how long it will last, but the ever-shifting sands of our island never cease to amaze us.

North Captiva participates in Dark Skies where homes should avoid leaving exterior lights on during the night. We also require beach homes to have turtle-friendly lights during the nesting and hatchling season. This view of the Milky Way in the Western sky can be seen on moonless nights.

On the island's northwest corner lies a several hundred-yard rock jetty extending just off the shore. This artificial reef attracts baitfish and various larger fish looking for a meal. If you don't want to fish it, grab your mask, snorkel, and fins and let the current float you over the structure. The fish in the video include Sheepshead, Snook, Redfish, Jacks, and various baitfish. MUSIC: Fat ...

Count the Sharks

While fishing offshore on Thanksgiving in 2022, I came across pods of bait. Two casts and two lost fish to a pesky shark, I decided to fly my drone to see what was busting the bait up the bait pods. I immediately saw the largest aggregation of sharks: brown, bull, dusky, blacktips...I had ever encountered. The mullet run attracts huge schools of sharks on the east coast of Florida. And the big ...

Beautiful video!. I love this place, absolutely a REAL getaway, and I've become hesistant to tell people about it because I don't want it ruined
When was this taken? Last time I was there, two years ago, the sandbar was mostly not there.
There was a hurricane
@@alexanderredlin8493 The Hurricane did not cause this. This sand bar just popped up recently. It happens every now and then. A few years ago, we had one pop up for a while further to the south. In the 80s, we had one that went out and mirrored the shoreline for an incredibly long distance ( wish I was here for that!).
How will wind and waves not tear that up?
That's remarkable! We were just there last fall, on that very beach, and it looked nothing like that!
