How to Propagate a Pineapple
You can make a whole new pineapple plant from the head of a harvested pineapple fruit. Try propagating the tops of your next pineapple!
Pineapple is part of the bromeliad family and are slow growing. Once the propagation is rooted and in the ground, it will take 2+ years to make a new fruit.

Sensory Beads
zhlédnutí 426Před 2 lety
Sensory beads are a fun activity for many ages for sensory exploration through one's fingertips. The beads start off small while dry and puff up with ware after soaking for about 12hrs. Their density is similar to water and the clear beads have fun optical properties that make them seem to disappear when placed in water. Product Review: Gravity Challenger

This video reviews the Gravity Challenger Magnetic Levitation product. Various figurines are demonstrated floating atop the magnet. The Gravity Challenger I received was scuffed and scratched on the surface of the platform and was poor quality. Other than that, functionality works relatively smooth but if you bump the table hard enough, the magnet will jump out of balance and no longer float. O...

EMI (Electromagnetic Induction)
zhlédnutí 2,5KPřed 6 lety
This video features Electromagnetic Induction (EMI) with a neodymium magnet and copper pipe. Conductors oppose changes in magnetic flux and will create eddie currents to oppose the time varying magnetic fields. Since the copper tube is not superconducting, the eddie currents will dissipate to heat and the magnet will traverse as the next infintismal eddie current is induced. This causes the slo...
Magnetic Levitation with a Superconductor
zhlédnutí 26KPřed 6 lety
This video demonstrates magnetic levitation of a strong magnet with a type II superconductor called YBCO (Yttrium Barium Copper Oxide). YBCO is considered a high Tc (critical temperature) superconductor, which becomes superconducting around 90K. Superconductivity means that the material has 0 electrical resistance and expels magnetic fields from penetrating the material. The eddy currents produ...

I was able to explain crystal mineralization from a geology perspective using your really nice sugar crystals. Tie a string to a stick that bridges the mouth of a mason jar, let the string hang down into the solution in the mason jar. Ends up doing the same thing but the crystals are all clean.. They used to sell it to us Rock Candy!

At 5:24 the reason why the hot water went red faster then the cold water is because of osmosis, since temperature can increase the rate of diffusion making it spread around faster causing the hot water to turn red before the blue cold water does.

I invented this method when I was a kid =D Used styrofoam and the special liquid for dissolving the nail polish. That liquid consisted of some amount of acetone. And the elastic material that I got was really good for modeling flower petals. I still have them, decade after the experiment! This home-made product is very durable.
