These bees are working on a frame with capped brood and different coloured pollen on a sunny day. A few are doing a bit of a waggle but, around 24 seconds in, one of them goes so fast she is almost blurred. Notice the bees touching her. See how calm these bees are when their hive is opened. Most of the time, they remain unbothered although after about ten minutes the hive buzz can change to a deeper roar and you know they're telling you it's time to close them up again. Marking a queen bee should involve a little coloured dot on her thorax. This is how not to do it! l tested the pen to make sure it didn't splodge but it still went wrong. Pollen comes in dozens of different colours. These bees are working on what looked like a frame of stores but if you look closely you can see some cells have tiny eggs in them. Bees look their best in the sunshine. These are busy going in and out of the hive but a line of them have been hanging out along the front. Some are fanning their wings which helps keep the hive cool while others are just chilling on a lovely sunny day. This hive has built comb beneath the frames and through the open mesh floor. I haven't seen this before. They're not short of space so I'm not sure what's going on.
