How to Set Up Your Sewing Machine For Free Motion Quilting By Dabline
When it comes to your sewing machine - do you need any specific requirements (other than being able to lower the feed dogs down)?
Anytime I lower the presser foot, it puts too much pressure on the fabric and I can’t even move the fabric. Is there a way to adjust this?
❤
Good video on using the templates and stitching them out. One suggestion for everyone. I do FMQ and ruler work on both a domestic and a Long arm, I was taught to always bring the bobbin thread to the top before starting to stitch so the bottom thread doesn't make a mess of the back of your quilt.
Thanks for showing how to use these templates. I didn't know about them until someone posted on facebook about them today. Now I will be ordering a set and getting some quilts finished! ❤
Nice❤❤❤❤❤
You are a great template tutorial teacher 🧵
Every time I try to use my template on my sewing machine along with the foot you have it presses down so tight I can’t move it. How do I get it to move? Just learning how to quilt with templates
Thank you so very much! I have watched so many videos on how to quilt but nobody ever talks about the speed of the machine. You answered that and many other questions. Keep up the great work!
Какая нудятина!!! Проще без шаблона!!!
Can you use it with my a brothers sewing machine I brought them I just seen your video for the first time
Did you do ur backing when it’s still wet and tacky
No it's supposed to be fully dry
What type glue is that Any specific brand? @@Dabline
where do you get the which way border template for quilting sheet - the blue sheet thingy?
I love your videos.
We appreciate you!
When fmq i learned to start to pull your bobbin thread then lock it in. Are you not able to that while using the template? I just got my order in today excited to use them 😊
Yes you can! Let us know how that goes!
@Dabline I actually returned them. This product is way to flimsy of a material. I even brought them to a few quilters that had experience with quilting rulers. They said to return because of it.
@@stineandscott I'm sorry to hear that! What machine do you have? Did you use a proper ruler foot for them?
@Dabline juki tl 2010q and yes I bought the ruler foot that is ment for my juki.
Thankyou great teaching … I’ve learned something new today ❤️❤️
You are so welcome! Let us know how your process goes
So you need to draw the 4" line all the way down your quilt?
Thats the easy way to do it
Hello, I have just watched this video. As you did the display I asked myself why ,instead of going through the whole template at the end, why didn´t you just turn it further and it would be so to speak at the beginning again.
You can definitely do that if that is easier for you
Thank you. I just thought that maybe, for beginners, it would be easier if you had given them this possibility too. Much easier than going all the way back to the beginning. As the template is the same upside if you will , I was surprised when you didn´t just switch the template to the right of the needle and continue. But thank you for your reply. Much appreciated. @@Dabline
Instead of moving the template, couldn't you just spin it 180°?
You can definitely do that if that is easier for you

😍😍😍
Looks great but I can’t try a product that is out of stock!!
We're sorry about that. It's going to be back in stock very soon.
Never got a disk
Where did you buy yours? Please send us an email to info@dabline.com
Are these templates OK to use on a queen size quilt or is a long arm more suitable??
You can definitely use them on a queen size. It's going to take more time than using longarm though
I have several templates and the frame but no instructions…. Any idea where new sewist would get instruction book or sheets?

Wow thays beautiful ❤❤❤
Thank you, Taylor!
No problem 😊
Love this… haven’t done free motion yet and hopefully these videos will help convince me to try it.
You can do it! You should definitely give a try@
New here and ready to learn free motion finally
So glad you're here!

Looks fire
You said to leave the foot next to the acrylic template but it seems like you are aren't staying on one side. As you turn you go to the other side of the template. CONFUSING!!
Yes, you need to turn the template as you go to get this final quilt pattern.

i wanted to see an example of quilting with the circle?
Same exact process, but you won't be able to use the frame with the circle one. Hold it from both sides.

HELP!! Not sure what I'm doing wrong, or if the template is too large for my machine, but cannot complete any template without running out of room in the workspace to the right of my needle. The opening is 6" wide. Is my machine too small, or am I not doing something right?
Make sure your feed dog is at 0 before you start.
Make sure you check out this video on how to set up your machine for free motion quilting: czcams.com/video/gV4_YWQuN4I/video.htmlsi=VXtnjJXYIW2QBEZo
The depth of the template worries me, I would be afraid the foot could run right over it? A quilt is not a really flat surface?????
These templates will work only if the quilt is on flat surface
Why can’t we just swing it over with the needle down?
It won't fit. Check out this video: czcams.com/video/gV4_YWQuN4I/video.htmlsi=VXtnjJXYIW2QBEZo
Wish you made these for longarm machines
Will do our best to make new ones for longarm
Great video thanks so much
Glad you enjoyed it
What kind of foot is used with this?
Low shank
Is the Meander template suppose to bounce up a little when using it inside the frame with handles? It doesnt look like yours does. I have a high shank ruler foot for my Janome and have it adjusted all the way down and the fabric moves under it smoothly.
It shouldn't. Try using the template without the frame
Do you drop the feed dogs down
Yes
Are these quilting rulers 1/4” thick? I need a high shank ruler foot and all the rulers I have seen are 1/4” thick. Love the pattern design of these along with the frame. Seems very helpful.
Our templates will work with any machine that can fit a 5mm template. However, you will need a ruler foot for quilting. We highly would recommend checking if your machine can work with a universal ruler foot. If it does, then you can purchase one of our ruler foot. Here is a video to know which ruler foot fits your machine: czcams.com/video/PZ7Gioh8qHA/video.html Happy quilting!

Thank you. This is just what I needed. Your video is clear, helpfun and precise.
Glad it was helpful!
