Now I know why the vet - which is where we were headed when he bit me - had no reaction when I held up my bandaged hand and said, “I don’t think he’ll give you any trouble but you should know - he’s in a bit of a mood today.”

Guess we’re weird. All our pets have been to both a regular vet and the emergency vet. I think the only one who hasn’t met Dr O (the exotic pet vet) is our tortoise. Dr O is the best! And the nearest emergency vet is actually just outside our neighborhood. We’ve seen both go through hell and back for one of our hamsters! I would trust our vets with my own life.

Vet tech asked me what my dog was. He was stumped when I said Mutt. Evidently there wasn’t a box to check for Mutt. We settled on Puerto Rican Street Dog. There was a box to check for that one.

My cats are absolute angels at the vet. Seriously. I have a clowder of cats and they are well behaved. I get rave reviews about them from every vet (holistic, regular, emergency) we visit. People, treat your cats with love AND make sure you’re the alpha cat. It’s not that hard. They act like that because you haven’t made yourself the boss nor the “mom/dad”. 😊

Let me introduce you to "spicy" who's one of my rescues. She's a beautiful little girl who I rescued at work with some of our other retention pond cats but as a kitten she'd about maul you to get to her food once we started feeding her at home.

A lot of people make the mistake that domesticated animals are like people. No amount of careful breeding completely removes the wildness. Also, you can't treat cats like dogs. There's even distinct behaviors in the different breeds within the animal type. Basically, no matter the pet (bird, hamster, pony, etc.), you need to educate yourself about them first. Provide an environment that suits them, not you.

We’re dog owners to a dog who is a lazy cat/seal. She is extremely spoiled, sassy af, and treated like a princess. She wants all the attention and gets jealous if we love on her older sister for too long lol. She is on one specific diet. Her regular vet visits usually cost $200+. She has a cardiologist and orthopedic specialist for her heart murmur and luxating patella. She and her sister are on a premium pet insurance plan. Grooming is $200+ but we can do that ourselves. So yeah we’re that extra af dog owner 😅 but not snarky.

I've had cats my whole life, they only go to the vet if they are sick or need to be spayed/neutered. They all have human names. Charlie, Stella and Nile. They are sweet but completely antisocial with anyone but me and my husband.

I’m really curious about your thoughts on a cat that is somewhat unpredictably aggressive. If medications don’t work, is there a place for disarming them (*cough* k9 tooth removal, declawing *cough*) as opposed to the alternative? This is very hypothetical as the owner doesn’t think anything needs done, since the cat isn’t aggressive with them and their partner.

Got my cats, brother and sister at seven months old. Their foster mom said their previous owner gave them up for being 'too much.' Are they special needs, I asked? She said no, they're just kittens. They wrecked my house when I brought them home but settled down once they got to be a year old and now our lifestyles mesh more. Plus because there's two of them they play with each other when they get the zoomies though they will still parkour across me from time to time.

Hi doctor Bozelka my Shih Tzu got diagnosed with immune mediated ITP and was first treated with conventional medications such as prednisone,later on mycophenolate was included but it didn't give the necessary results.So i came across an article after binge searching the internet where a university in Berlin had done a test in 5 dogs with humane medication called Romiplostime.I told my dog's internist about it and after reading into it she was willing to give it a try.So we started with giving him 0.07 subcutane near the thorax and his platelets went up in one week from 80 to 650.Every two weeks we gave him a dose ,we tapered down over time and ever since then he is in remission and his bloodresults are still consistent .For my dog Romiplostime was a life saver.This medication blocks the antibodies from destroying the platelets.we also kept him on mycophenolate but the suspension and he is now on 0.5 ml every 12 hours.You might want to look into this treatment.
