‘Mocha Rose’ Bigleaf Maple Tree - Rare Acer Macrophyllum -
A crisp spring New England morning with the birds chirping and I finally tracked down the elusive ‘Mocha Rose’. It’s too beautiful to talk over and this was just an impromptu video, so I’ll add the details here.
My limited research led me to believe this would be a slightly smaller tree than the 20-30’ listed on the nursery tag, however the internodes confirm its larger size (vigorous rootstocks may produce larger forms than the original selections which can be a also be challenge in dwarf conifers). Also, 30 feet would be still be considered a dwarf in the Bigleaf family as they can get to 60+ . Slightly oversized for it’s pre determined home here but it’s staying because it’s too striking a tree.
Always grounds under repair in the video, some new hydrangeas on the retaining wall waiting on planting rings and other fresh transplants in too.
In the end we sneak over to an iPhone autofocus acting up on an Esk Sunset Acer Pseudoplatanus Sycamore Maple. Another tree difficult to find and on life support from shipping stress, but I think it will pull through, I have two more 1G on the way in case.
I’m in 6B, southern New England, Rocky/sandy loam. Below street on a north facing slope, so proper sun exposure can be challenging but this is in full sun. Heavy rains for the last few days means still no mowing today on the Havoc.
My amendment for everything I plant is native soil mixed with 1 LG bagged topsoil/ 1 LG organic raised bed soil which seems to have a lot of peat and mulch among other things I used to buy separately. I use Espoma organic starter on everything going in and usually use additional root probiotics, but not here as I was out.
Thanks for watching!

Honda HSS1332A Tracked Snowblower
zhlédnutí 48KPřed 2 lety
Having some fun with my 2019 Honda HSS 1332A. Running fairly strong but starting to surge a little, she'll get some shop time at the end of the season.
Oh the joys of a 1/4 mile long driveway in a New England winter!
Why is he adjusting the trow hight all the time??? 🤦♂️
I want to see if it will handle heavy wet snow & slush & ice . I have see snow blowers bog down even the industrial tractor mounted ones. Currently all i see is soft & packed snow wich is a total ease for it, but i want to see it being challenged. Before i invest in a snowblower i want to see how it can the worst mother nature can throw at it.
Expensive but worth it
A battery thing would be dialing 911 screaming for help if it saw this, maybe even snowblower protective services.
A great machine for sure. Here in Canada I have a 43 year old 11 hp Briggs & Stratton powered 33" MTD. I've rebuilt the auger drive gear box, replaced the rubber tired drive wheel, belts and skid shoes twice so far. The thing was originally equipped with a 115V starter but that quit about 15 years ago and never replaced it because it's a first pull start machine if I keep the carb cleaned and tuned with a new s/plug and fuel filter every season. The old brute still throws snow a good 40 ft. Getting so that parts are an issue so when it needs another round of rebuilding, it might get replaced with one of these Honda beauties.
I went from a 928 to the 1332 last year. Quality unit. The only brand on par or slightly better than the Honda is the Yamaha. Can't go wrong with either.
Man that machine is a BEAST! I just bought a used HS 824 and waiting for the white blessings from above. Can't wait to try my machine out.
Just run some Seafoam through it. Will clear up surge shortly
I just bought a band new HSS1332A and I can't wait to use it!!!
That is a deep snow. When was it?
Kicken butt taken names.
Certainly doesn't lack for power. Are they hydrostatic drive?
Yap.
how is it that everyone that makes these videos lives in a place where the snow come in power form? where I live Maine it's wet snow 90% of the time, in fact we're about to get 8 inches of wet snow today
I've got an 1132... 22 years and still the beast it was, from storm one, until today... This guys driveway is certainly impressive... Mine and surrounding outbuildings are dissimilar. However for 22 years, I've been moving as much snow as he... These Hondas are the Best, Bar-none...
Just picked up an 1132 the other day for breaking trail on drifted sidewalks. I do snow removal and tires with chains just don't have enough grip when it gets real bad and the lighter snows get done with a paddle blower. I'll not need it often but it's like 4 wheel drive. When you need it nothing else will do.
My 1132 is 22 years old and going strong. The beauty of the Honda is that it never lets you down - 1-2 pulls. Other than basic maintenance nothing has failed.
Love mine! Now that I have it, we don't get snow very often.

Awesome video of an awesome machine in a picturesque location. Love my Honda too which is the HS1132.
I heard that if you re-jet these new hss1332s you can get alot more power. I guess they used a smaller jet to make it run leaner for emissions crap.
I did that on mine. It's a beast
@@ABC-nv8lycan you provide any details about what product you used for that, or further guidance?
@@piezoman79 I did it like 3 years ago. Can't remember what Jet number I bought.
Great video, fun to watch and I agree, good exercise in the beautiful outdoors! Did a 300ft+ gravel driveway with the 928hss track drive for many years with no problem and faster and neater than my neighbours with tractor plows and ATVs!
Absolute beast. Hondas cost more for a reason
Is Honda still making snowblowers? Heard they just stopped lawnmowers.
One more year according to chicanic CZcams channel
@@tedcook8749 Wow, really? They are quitting walk behind blowers to?
This is a prime example of you get what you pay for. Great machine.
Ya except it is cheaper to buy a truck and plow for the cost of this fucking thing…
@@xGR1MxREAPERx Your not getting a truck and trailer for 4k lmao.
@@dominiclasagna3094 I meant to say a truck and a plow*. And yea you can. Everything Honda makes is over priced by atleast 500%… you are paying for the name like a Sony or a Samsung product. Way better and cheaper options for 1/3 of the price bud
Nice machine but that driveway is way too large for a walk behind blower, at least for me.
Lesson #1 you don't blow snow Into the wind. What's the #2 get your tractor out when you have this much snow you can do it in 1⁄10 of the time.
Yeah, you need a plow! 🤣🤣🤣
What a beast👍👍👍
Awesome video 👍
Wow! A stunningly beautiful video! Breathtaking, really. Bravo!
That is TOP notch of snowblowers
I have both the Honda 13/32 and a Toro commercial 14/32. The Honda is quiet and smooth but I prefer the Toro for wet, heavy snow.
What is the top speed on this Honda
For gods sake man, get a tractor with a blower, looks like you have way more than enough driveway to justify it.
He want to Have fun
@@kjell-richardlvdal373 All kinds of fun in the cab of my tractor with 64” blower with the heat on and not coming in looking like a snowman.
Agreed. Having to walk this driveway every time there is snow must be extremely timely.
I hear you. I looked at different options, and used to plow it with a truck. I like the Honda for now, still enjoy playing in the snow.
It takes about an hour to clear and I have a secondary entrance to park up top for big storms. Good exercise in the beautiful outdoors.
very deep snow....... #natick.................
DO YOU HAVE A GRAVEL DRIVEWAY ? IS IT EASY TO TRACK STRAIGHT OR DO YOU HAVE TO MUSCLE IT A BIT ?
New asphalt driveway. Old one was rough gravel and would have likely snapped shear pins. It’s hydrostatic drive with directionals on levers, but I mix those with just nudgeing it around. Its a beast of a snowblower, couldn’t be happier with it.
Always fun to high mark the trees until the wind comes....instant ice cream headache. A snowmobile helmet helps with that.
A two stage snowblower will not have any problems on gravel
