For the most part, mine can. This one. Our current, Levi, is usually ok when left alone, but if I leave small garbage bins down, he will empty them. He doesn’t howl while we are gone. Our previous beagle, Dolly, had to be crated or she did tear up our house. Both would definitely go into hound dog howl mode if they are inside and we are outside. If my Levi can smell us, he does get hound dog howl upset.

So I have a beagle mix and every time one of us leaves the houes [even if there some there] they start acting up and begin to howl stuff. Who would I train it to show that even we leave that they should not worry?

Mine just started barking all thru the night because it hears animals like possums or raccoons outside around our house being that we live in the mountains.

I was in Australia in 2008 and was fascinated by beagle and 2day I have one.

I guess I wasted some money on a trainer who advised me to let my pup roam ahead of me. She said as long as he didn’t pull it was okay. He eventually started to seeing strangers or new dogs and started pulling like crazy. He’s become very reactive to others. My breeder suggested a prong collar. I’m not crazy about that especially after researching the results.

I like to think I’m pretty seasoned when it comes to owning dogs and have always gravitated towards intelligent breeds but when I got my beagle pup, I was thrown a very unexpected curveball! 🤣 she’s so much fun and incredibly smart but boy she’s a mischief and she’s a lot of work! Beagles definitely redefine the term “velcro dog”.. who needs personal space anyway 🐶❤

First time beagle owner here and I tell you what.. you’d be hard pressed to find a dog with more character 🤣 she’s definitely kept us on our toes and brought some fun into the house!

I just got a two year old full breed beagle from a family friend for free and I'm grateful but, our family leaves 6+ hours 5 days a week and at first we put her in a crate, not too big but not small enough for her to be uncomfortable ( she is as small as a puppy all the time ) but she tore through the bars, the next day she broke the door down and then the next ( after we replaces the wooden bars with metal) she started to chew the bars out. The next day we tried leaving her out and about though out the house and she did great and slept all day.

Beagles are great when home alone. After a few times alone they stop acting naughty, they mostly walk around sniff check for a open door then take a good nap. They repeat process many times.

I have a beagle and he drives everyone in the house up the walls. He stinks all the time. He knows his commands but decides all the time not to obey. He never stops looking for food and constanly trys to pinch ours. Hes constanly clingy and the clingness is draining. His recal is the worst ive ever seen in a dog.

I didn’t have a beagle but I have a dog who passed away a year ago. We didn’t crate her unless she was in the car with us. As a puppy she had seperation anxiety, only once did she break something. Our family either worked full time or were at school. Idk how but after a while when she grew up her anxiety got better. Now me and my partner are looking to get a dog, and we have been thinking about a beagle cause it’s the perfect size for us and my strength. But he works 10 hours a day and I’m trying to get a full time job close by, meaning 6-8 hours. I’m really scared on how this will affect a dog :( We really want one, and when i get home I will focus all my attention on the dog but i’m still sceptical.

I have a 9 month old beagle. Just wondering, do you have any advice on how to deal with stopping my dog chewing all of his beds to pieces. Even if I take him for a long walk or to the dog park and he exercises until he can no longer stand. He still wakes up in the middle of the night and chews his beds apart. I now have him sleeping on a towel which he has less success pulling apart, although it does have holes in it, but I feel he deserves a good bed eventually. Any help will be much appreciated

We've had two beagles who have both been the sweetest tempered dogs, so wonderful with our young kids and friendly with everyone, including our cats. Love beagles 😊

Anyone trying to teach a beagle not to bark is an animal abusing piece of crap. Don’t get a dog if you don’t want one, and certainly don’t get a beagle if you can’t handle it.
