I remember an interview with this dude not that long ago talking about how they don’t want to pursue a Super Bowl by going all in. He insinuated the Rams did it the wrong way, or at least a way that “was unsustainable”. How’s that strategy been working out for the Bills the last 3 seasons? Pats should have traded down as much as possible, accumulate high picks, draft LT of their future in Amaris Mims, rebuild their OL, WR, TE perhaps and draft a franchise QB in 2025 or latest 2026 with team intact.

Guess im Justin Jefferson to you then" Point is what makes sense for the organization is to give in to paying the guys that are maybe 2-5 at the league in their position the same or a slight bump compared to the top of the market because trading them yeah they get other capitol but its not as gauranteed and other teams will also only do what makes sense for them in those trades. Best option is to pay 95% of the player the same money but yeah it all depends on market timing. If im a team im paying guys early if they dont have to really prove anything

My question is: what would justify 29yo Calvin Ridley's contract being an overpayment (4y, 23m AAV, with an out at 2y, 25.5m AAV), but not an overpayment for the Texans trading the approximate net value of a R3 pick on 31yo Stefon Diggs at 1y, 22.5m (20.5m guaranteed), coming off just 43YPG in his final 8 games last year? I may be putting words in your mouth to assume you don't think that's an overpay, but consensus seems to love that deal for some reason. I understand that Diggs has more good years on tape, but he is two years older, has double the wear on his body (136GP to 66GP) and is showing signs of decline that Ridley isn't. As a take, it feels like one based on "We feel like the Texans are going to be good this year and the Titans aren't, so..." rather than on the actual deals.

Lamar may have still ranked 18th overall last year in those heavy pressure situations but I imagine it was closer to top 10 in the games where Isaiah Likely was the starter. It may be counter intuitive and a moot point, but Lamar Jackson is a better QB without Mark Andrews and with Likely. Likely is more of a YAC threat who gets open quickly as an outlet, punishing defenses in the quick game, and Lamar just spreads the ball around more in general when he's on the field. I will always be convinced that if the Ravens didn't force Andrews back into the lineup that game vs the CHiefs could have gone differently.

The way T’Vondre moves at that size IS pretty special. He’s never going to be mistaken for Aaron Donald but he’s got very nimble feet for a very big man. And he’s really good at using those nimble feet to sift through trash and make plays up and down the front. Also, the way he uses his hands is a lot more advanced than he’s typically given credit for and then he also does a really good job of using that length he has to stack, peek around and shed blockers. There’s always going to be a challenge for him to get his pads low because he’s so damn big but being so damn big allows him to get away with a little higher pad level because even when his pads are a little high he’s still incredibly difficult to move. I know a lot of people trashed the pick. And I did move him down a round after the DUI. But the talent is absolutely worthy of where he was picked and they obviously did their homework on the character aspect so I really like the pick. This guy has a chance to be a real difference maker along that front.

Outstanding interview. It’s refreshing to see a journalist ask real, detailed, in-depth football questions. Love it. You don’t usually get that. Instead you usually get a lot of questions that are more what I would call noise based, i.e. questions dealing with the hype around professional football rather actual detailed football questions.
