Sort of a grand finale, Cruz creates a relay run that encompasses the work on all three parts. Plus, we move the camera to a different position that is a side view, sitting even with the bending area. We get a chance to see some things we missed before, like the spring-loaded backguage fingers.

We do a "relay" to move from one job to the next without stopping. Cruz shows us how to program this on the 4ie for parts 2 and 3. He narrates the proceedings, including how the robot grips and moves the tooling (over 90 feet of tooling is at the ready in the EGB 6013e). We go through gripper changes for the different part jobs and we show the tiny, accurate bends made by this automated system.

In this video we learn about the magnetic system employed to defend against picking up more than one blank at a time from the cart. Additionally we learn about the second blank and second part more than 10 bends will make it into a small, complex part that you can hold between your index finger and thumb.

We start right in, bending our first part. We learn about the robot with a gripper change, and we do a tooling setup that corresponds to the first part we are going to make. The robot has two functions: 1) to to all the setup work, and 2) to act as the operator.

A few small design changes can reduce costs significantly, and can reduce the number of parts necessary in a product build.

This short video reveals to us how the programs are organized, as well as showing the ability to avoid a lot of program by invoking one of the many macros that come with the system. For example, if you do a spot weld program, you choose your points and the system does the rest if you have invoked the spot weld macro.

The program that Garcia created on the pendant is sent to the AMNC 4ie control. He shows us briefly the scheduling function and the Teach Assist System screen, and moves right along to the large libraries of conditions (and within these, "E" numbers of settings) that allow an operator to do what-if welding scenarios.

Here Garcia takes us through programming the FLW M1 . Because we are programming such a simple job, the butt weld on the coupon fixture we witnessed in video #3, we can do this interactively with the pendant. Here is our other laser weld for the day, a simple butt weld of a coupon Garcia uses for testing conditions or for using the system's flexibility to meet any unusual customer specs. Note how he sets the weld path, and the precision offered by the camera-based alignment system. The weld takes a few seconds; as Garcia says, it's about five times as fast as a traditional welding system.
