A year ago I said to myself that once I went sub 70 in Hyrox, I'd give the pro division a go, and it was so much fun!! London Olympia is a such a great venue. It's really cool to have that new feeling again, a sense of stepping into the unknown.
I have a lot more work to do to get my body strong enough to cope with the event, recovery has been tough! Looking forward to investing some more time into the pro weights. I had a 6 week blast and switch up in my training from Hyrox Copenhagen.
There's a lot more to give in this division and a lot more fun to be had out on the track!

@NikRuntheHills Even though I came across this video for the first time, my sincere condolences for the loss of you dog, your buddy who was always there for you. 🙏Keep up these video''s you have a new subscriber! I will do the 100 Burpee challenge next week Godwilling 🙏💪😀
How long for the rest bro please could ypu specify for us
This is quite an old video for me now but I'll break down a couple of ways you can approach the rest periods. 1) if you want get more powerful, hit your reps harder and take longer rests (like 2-3mins) 2) if you want to work on cardio, hit your reps comfortably hard and take shorter rests (60-90secs) 3) if you train by Heart rate (using a chest strap) you can gauge your rest period by recovery HR. For example pause until you get back to zone 2.
@@NikRunTheHills super helpful bro
What other exercises were you doing in those 100 days? Or did you just do burpees?
I did my usual mix of running and strength training too. I post all my training to Strava (and soon to NRTH)
Great effort bro,but burpee’s without jump is nothing , that’s the killer part
Agreed. Check the long format to see why I omitted the jump.
Can you show the before and after goggins jr? 😂

You seem really tall, and 10kg is a lot of weight. Im not sure if you're planning on loosing all that weight, though? Your results are really good but of course, you still want to improve. There's a balance, right? Hunter McIntyre lost weight and he mentioned it feels really good no to carry the extra, as his strength stayed the same. Good luck with everything!
Thanks for the comment. I'm 6ft tall, was 91kg when filming this. I recently cut my weight down to 83kg and have been documenting it for the members only section (if you fancy following along click join - I made it members only because weight loss can be triggering and is full of a lot of conflicting info these days). I've found the whole process immensely empowering and have seen improvements not just in my sporting performance but in other areas of my life too. Happy to chat more about it
I’m gonna have to challenge myself to this!
Do it!!
@@NikRunTheHills I actually started the day I made this comment, so I'm now 6 days in. Today will be my 7th day and I'm already getting better at them.
@@deanocorona5316 💪💪 awesome stuff
Bravo. Great results!
🙌
great video. last year before i injured my knee, my slow time was 16mins and fastest i got to 8mins before the injury. stayed 4 months to February to recover, i started in March now am already on 80burpees.
Awesome stuff! Well done
Hi Nik, great effort and nice to see your mindset evolve to enjoying the experience and not having a fear of failure timings wise. I’ve got Birmingham mens Pro in Oct and will do the open in Nov. Hoping for similar times to yourself. Just need to keep that run time down! All the best and keep at it.
Totally! The going out hard wasn't working, but enjoying it is working well - still progressing time wise too, but everything feels more positive and less pressured. Awesome man! See you in Birmingham. If you wana chat about running stuff, just let me know - learnt a fair old bit this season that might save you some time and help you get more bang for your buck in training
Go Nik! I don't know how you can manage to smile while doing it. I look like a grumpy gremlin when doing lunges with a sandbag 😂
😂 Grumpy Gremlin, love that 🧌100% I've been there too. Pacing is a big one, riding that thin line of optimal intensity. Mindset shift - Once you take the pressure off and lock in to what you're doing, you can celebrate the moments more. But fundamentally it's a pacing thing - I used to always suffer by the time I got to the row and regress through and hate the rest of the race.
You seem so happy! Looks like you’re in a great place with your fitness. It’s been a pleasure to watch your journey!
It's been such a year of big lessons, very grateful to have landed on the right side of things! Great to have you here and share the journey with you.
Another great video, solid advice, love the smiles, seems obvious but definitely something I need to remember for Birmingham!
🙏 It's all for the love in the end. Hopefully see you in Birmingham!
My god 100 burpess in a 6minutes?? That's devilish
💯
Elite is being used a loosely. Elite compared to karen down park run yes, elite compared to kipchoge....no
Wow no shit 😂 although if you do the maths, if Kipchoges relative VO2 max is 90ml/kg/min and he weighs 52kg, his absolute vo2 max would be 4.7L. but I couldn't even get to his marathon pace, let alone do it for 2 hours.
@@NikRunTheHills you think you have a higher vo2 max than kipchoge lmao ? 🤡
I think you're not understanding the difference between relative and absolute VO2 max 🤡😂
@@NikRunTheHills you think you are fitter than kipchoge lmao. You're a weekend warrior who does hyrox thinking he's an athlete lmao
The difference here is I'm using maths and science, you're using opinion. I'm not claiming to be fitter than kipchoge, are you out of your mind? I'm saying I literally had my Vo2 max tested in a lab and I can intake 5.3L of oxygen per minute. But to calculate relative v02 max; the value that people use as a measure of fitness, you divide this (absolute VO2) by your bodyweight - this essentially creates a measurement of how effectively you can use the oxygen. Kipchoge has at least double the efficiency and that's not even taking into account his lactate threshold. The problem is with people like you on the internet - you type before you think. Do some reading on the subject - you'll see.
Turning fear into self-belief and self-power! ps I notice you don't add the little jump at the end of each burpee (was that a conscious decision?)
💯 jumps - look a little closer, I started the challenge with a jump, but then stopped jumping to let my ankle heal from a niggle
I appreciate the fact that you did an actual push up instead of belly flopping. Much respect 💯
💪💪
Did you change your diet at all during this?
I did a bit of intermittent fasting, but didn't really have a clue about diet. It's something I've really dialled in the last couple of months

What about Burpees?
Just done 30 and gave up😭🤣🤣
Go again tomorrow
@@NikRunTheHills can I do 10 sets of 10? Wait about 30 seconds rest between the sets until I get fitter? Also do you do cal the nics after ?? Or is that enough?
@@frankiestephenson7157 yeah of course. Just commit to doing the Burpees - so don't go off an do other things is your rests, commit that moment to getting it done. Didn't understand your last question, what did you mean?
@@NikRunTheHills I mean apart from the 100 burpees do you do like press ups dips squats and pull ups too?
@@frankiestephenson7157 yeah man, all sorts. I would do gym and running as usual. But find what works for you!

Mate, you are a machine!! Jeezus I tried doing ten and had to stop after seven, I literally couldnt breathe anymore!! Having said that, my abs are showing through and my muscles look super jacked right now!! I ride a bike 3 times a week and do weights three other days, so I am in actually pretty good shape. But those burpees, fckn killed me!! I think Im going to pass on the doing the ton every day, but getting a dozen or so every second day? That might work. GREAT video... talk about a Spartan, 100 burpees a day is an achievement you can be really proud off because it is REALLY hard to do!! Well done!! Your VO2 max must be through the roof now.
Man Burpees never get any easier 😂 it's such a mental thing with them though - they don't getting any easier but you get more used to them sucking
@@NikRunTheHills ''they don't getting any easier but you get more used to them sucking'' ... that gave me a chuckle !! ; ]
Sorry, but you're defienietly not in good shape if u cant breathe after 10 burpees, or you just set urself a mental limit

I'm only 3 min in and this video is banging! The edits and style of the video is really nice and you have great quality advice! You say you're not a coach, maybe you should consider becoming one, because your advice is great 💪
Ah thank you! Haha maybe :)
You are in very good shape to do 100 burpees, I barely do 15 a day.
Work up to it 💪
I did 30 on the first day gonna make it up the rest tommrow with the 100
The number is only relevant to you. Pick a number you can stick to every day, but pushes you outside your comfort zone. For me that was 100 X 100 but for you maybe 30 x 30 is the first step. It's about commitment to the consistency rather than the numbers 💪
Id love to know, what else was in your routine while doing these burpees?
Mainly running, and some strength work for Hyrox
@@NikRunTheHills oh great. I'm running as well but I just started incorporating burpees. It's really a battle of the mind and body
@@blaqmermaiid 100% there's nothing quite like the Burpees good luck with the running
Good job but why arent you going to plank? It looks like you are resting on your quads instead. Get better core work from the plank, no?
Hyrox
@@NikRunTheHills hyrox?
@@NikRunTheHills ok just checked out the site. I see. Good site!
@@Seegie16 I started this whole challenge to get better at burpees in Hyrox. The movement standards for that are closer to my style of burpees in day 101. If you check out the other 100 days, you'll see they all involve a press up and the plank you're referring to.
@@NikRunTheHills I looked into hyrox. It looks really cool actually and I like the athletic aspect of it. Sometimes the military burpee gets to rigid and starts to lack plyo and agility work. Good stuff. Im definitely going to try them. Im open minded, I do military, sapatee, prison, crossfit and now hyrox!
