Lord Vivec, also simply known as Vehk, is one of the ALMSIVI, the three immortal God-Kings of Morrowind, alongside Sotha Sil and Almalexia. A Pillar of the Tribunal Temple and the patron of artists and rogues, Vivec is the "transcendent evolution" of the Daedric Prince Mephala, as it is believed Mephala was Vivec's "anticipation" during the Dawn Era. Vivec is also seen as the invisible keeper of the holy land, always keeping a watchful eye over Morrowind, and keeping the evil god of Red Mountain at bay.
According to the words of his own Sermons, Vivec was born in the days of Resdaynia as the image of an Egg to a Netchiman's wife, and there visited by many deities, spirits and creatures who taught him secret knowledge of words and swords. During his pre-life, his mother would be captured by the Dwemer, and then killed when they failed to understand the nature of Vivec's Egg within her. Worried of the consequences, the Dwemer created a simulacrum of the Netchiman's wife, placed the still-developing egg inside her, and returned her to the surface world. She would eventually be found by Indoril Nerevar and brought to Mournhold, where the Egg of Vivec would meet with Almalexia and Sotha Sil, who already ruled the land as Gods and had long awaited for the coming of their missing third.
And thus Vivec was born at last. He merged with the simulacrum of his mother, gilled and blended in all the arts of the star-wounded East, under water and in fire and in metal and in ash, six times the wise, and he became the union of male and female, the magic hermaphrodite, the martial axiom, the sex-death of language and unique in all the middle world. The ALMSIVI were complete at last, and both Chimer and Dwemer would live under their wise and benevolent rule. Vivec would be Indoril Nerevar's lord, master and teacher until Nerevar's death at the Battle of Red Mountain.
In truth, Vivec was an ordinary Chimer born in Resdayn, to a poor netchiman and his wife during the 1st Era. He was orphaned at a young age, and grew among gangs of criminals in the streets of Mournhold. He was illiterate, and would steal, kill, and sell his body if it meant getting any money. At one point Vivec would be visited by a soldier of House Indoril, Nerevar, who saw something special in him and took him into his caravan.
Vivec served among Nerevar's soldiers, and would eventually become his confidant and closest friend. As he rose to prominence, Nerevar was titled Hortator and married Indoril Almalexia, and later led the armies of Resdayn in a rebellion against the Nords, with Vivec always standing by his side in battle. After the war, Vivec became an esteemed warrior of House Indoril, and one of Nerevar's most trusted advisers alongside his wife Almalexia and the mage Sotha Sil.
Then came the War of the First Council, and the Chimer turned against the Dwemer when it was discovered that they sought to build a mechanical god - the Numidium - by harnessing the power of the recently discovered Heart of Lorkhan, which was seen as a blasphemous offense to Velothi faith and culture. Indoril Nerevar once against led the Chimeri armies, though this time against those that had been their allies, and Vivec, Sotha Sil and Almalexia marched alongside him. The two forces had their final confrontation in the Battle of Red Mountain, where the Chimer stood victorious, while the Dwemer race vanished from the Earth following the Numidium's activation. Seeing the devastating and corrupting power of the Heart of Lorkhan with his own eyes, Nerevar locked it safe within Red Mountain and made his council vow that it would never again be used as a weapon.
However, Vivec, Sotha Sil and Almalexia were ambitious, and saw the immense power that the Heart offered. The three conspired together, and in secret slew their Lord Indoril Nerevar. Drawing power from the Heart of Lorkhan, they ascended from mortality and were transformed into Living Gods: The ALMSIVI. Through their newfound powers they asserted themselves as the rightful rulers of Resdayn and replaced the old Chimeri Religion, being henceforth worshiped as is true God-Kings of Morrowind.
