To be fair how many girls stay with the first guy they fall in love with? I believe Elena and Stefan were beautiful together at the time they met, when Elena needed someone like Stefan in her life. But she outgrew him. We never got to see who Elena was before she was grieving at the start of the show, but they gave us hints and I truly believe that Damon was the better fit for her (not saying he want toxic in his own way, but so was Stefan). I always shipped Stefan and Katherine together from day 1. I can’t stand what they did with her character and their relationship.

Watching this way back when and watching it now... it's just different for me. Because i remember loving damon & elena so much! I was like crazy obsessed with the both of them. I wanted them to become a couple so badly because i felt like damon loved her more than anything else!! And when Rebekeh ran Matt off the road, killing Elena. If damon had been under the water when that happened he would have chosen elena over matt even if Elena would hate him for it he still would have done it! Because of how much he loved her. idk it's also different for me now because i shipped damon with Elena so long ago but now i wanted Elena to stay with stefan! and not be with danon because i feel like he made her worse as a person... she became selfish and didn't care about people as much as she used to when she was human! Elena became careless and reckless just like damon was. Stefan loved Elena so much that even though she ended up breaking his heart by being with his brother he couldn't completely let her go. He protected her even when they broke up!!! And honestly if Elena had broken up with Damon instead i don't think he would have remained friends with her like that. Just because he loves her too much romantically... but what I'm saying is stefan & Elena were perfect together! I loved them together also. I was both delena and stelena i guess lol because the actress that plays both Elena/Katherine is absolutely beautiful!!! Even though the years have gone by since she was on the vampire diaries she's still gorgeous of course! She just looks different now. But still very pretty woman 💁🏻‍♀️❤️❤️
