Back in the circuit again after injuries...2 herniated disks, 1 foot stress fracture, and an ankle that just wouldn't cooperate for a while. After rehab, I added crossfit to my off ice training.

I was pretty happy with this one! This is a vlog...definitely not for instructional purposes. I post these at the request of friends and family. There are many, many better examples of this elsewhere.

First pattern, ok, second pattern tiny. This is a vlog...definitely not for instructional purposes. I post these at the request of friends and family. There are many, many better examples of this elsewhere.

Solo Foxtrot. Missed first 3 turn. Distracted by hole in ice. Must concentrate. And push. March 2010

Solo American Waltz. Yes, I know I missed the first 3-turn. Must develop more overall power. Maybe listening to the music would help, too. March 2010
That was the most fun week! I'm glad we got to have that experience with Warren and won the bronze medal!
Wonderful 🙌👌🏻👏👏👏👏👏👏
Very nice! I am starting to learn this. Are you still skating?
An 11 year old taught me this dance!! I even have a video of it. She did an awesome job...it was hard for me...never was able to be smooth with 3 turns...grin. Anyway, hope someone enjoys it! The video, that is: czcams.com/video/jW9FMvw7MyI/video.html
Awesome #2!! I love this!
Awesome!!
Wow! I really enjoyed watching this!! I wish I had been able to learn to skate/dance like this when I was young! I did begin to learn at age 66. Smile... And eventually I passed the Masters Swing Dance test. I even competed in an Adult competition... if you'd like to take look (smile)...here's the link: czcams.com/video/xSJ01XQOXA8/video.html
Yes,it matters a lot. You have to start with the correct feet.
Hi! I used to do take roller skating lessons for 11/2 years and one day in an ice rink an ice skating instructor saw me skating and told me to do a similar routine skating backwards like you and told me angrily that I needed to practice and push more the ice. What do you think of that? I have never taken figure lessons on ice in my life, I have done a few figures on roller skates where the figures are different. Is level 5 advanced?
omg I can do that .
I wondered what Basil Fawlty did in his spare time....now I know!
@RYsPigeons You could try and push really hard before you start, or work on your backward glide a lot first :)
That was really pretty.
Glad you're back! Great skating.
The pattern is also fairly small, although consistent. It's obvious that the girl is either taking or working towards a test. More power would help, and that comes with time...and practice!
you need to bend your knees more, so you can get more power on the second push of your forwards crossovers
About two years. Solo dance is a struggle for me.
Just so well done. You should join us at Skate for Hope.
good.
@RYsPigeons you notice in the video she is alternating feet as she alternates halves of the figure eight? im just starting out and i learned it is important to practice doing things with both feet so that you can skate ambidextrously. it takes practice for me to do things with my left and its not as solid as my right but with enough practice i will get better
@maysoon24 Even though her jumps are really small, she landed them cleanly. I'm sure that she's probably nervous about them as they're still new to her, especially on a skating test. I'm sure that as she gets more confident, her jumps will show that confidence. :)
This is a good one like it
Does anyone know what this music is called, or where I could buy/download it?
You did very well, how old are you and when did you start ice skating?
what song was this? trying to use this song for my sweet sixteen court..;D
Melissa it was good your routine but should manage better the ribbon , the rhythmic gymnast says that is the most complicated apparatus to manage . but cheer up for next time will go great a hug very big Jorge
I never saw that dance before - that was awesome! I can't wait to learn it!!!
the edges were well done, however I suggets that you lift up your foot more on the chasse. good job
i hear it too :)
Some gal laughs after your waltz jump. I want to slap her. This is your PBFS test, right? You have good edges, extension etc.; it's obvious that you had a good coach. It doesn't matter how big you jump on this test as long as your edges are correct. I can't stand cows who get out there in fancy dresses and futz around and have no edges and can't do crossovers.
good job. this was my absolute favorite dance!
spead=speed
Hope you had a gr8 sk8!
Bonjour et Merci! Power means spead across the ice. Thanks for your very kind comments.
very nice :D I like it <3
its been 10 years since this was taken, and nothing has changed, but the music. im currently working on this, with my male partner.
wow!! nice!!
Aww, thank you...still working on it! Will skate it at AN on 4/25!
I believe it is called Fiesta Capriole but I don't know who recorded it.
Nah, the lifting the foot thing before the crossover step isn't part of the step sequence.. it's just her onw thing hehe! I am taking my Bronze MIF next month, and if i pass, my bronze freestyle in june. how did ur test go?
i am taking my bronze MIF next month... the only thing I struggle badly with is this sequence!!!! i have open hips, which is a blessing coz i can do outside spread eagles... but also a curse coz I struggle with mohawks!!! GREAT JOB!!!
Beautiful!
I am 4th from the right :-)
Thanks! I'm encouraged by the progress I have made. It felt much worse than it looked...usually it has been the other way around. I'll test it again in February.
Thanks! My biggest challenge is to actually achieve contrabody at the waist rather than throwing my shoulders in it. On the mohawk I need to rise up in the knee and that will help bring my feet together.
You have improved alot. You are getting some nice expression and your knees are soft - nice up and down action. On the mohawk bring the feet closer together - toe to heel on the turn. And maybe the free leg after the rocker could be over the tracing more - it is a bit to the side. Funny though - I did the Rocker before the Tango and you did the Tango before the Rocker. Anyway I look forward to seeing your retry of the test. You will get it next time. Adult ice dancers rock!!!
Very nice skating, patineuse! And wow...you look fantastic out there! I can't belive you didn't pass this dance - I'm sure you were only an inch off passing. Keep up the great work!
uhh gr8 dance and it must be hard and i know im only on the first dance the dutch waltz but my coach told me that u gotta point ur toes when u do a swing roll or sumthin
Good luck with that one. I did it in June and got through. I suppose your coach has told you but the Rocker is probably the thing the judges are going to look most closely at. Have fun skating :)
Thanks so much. My next dance is the Rocker Foxtrot. Another opportunity to clean up those cross steps!
