Ackergill Dreams
On a recent trip to Wick I stayed over at wonderful musician and friend, Addie Harper's bungalow in Ackergill, just outside Wick. I had a bit of a restless night and the germ of a tune kept running through my head so I got up at 6 a.m. and started to noodle away at this tune, now called Ackergill Dreams. Here is the final version. Tune is registered with PRS copyright Ronald A.Ross 2023.

Scotland Once Again - Ronnie Ross

I have spent my time recently writing and recording songs. There are not too many new Scottish songs on the scene, so here's one I wrote after watching a bit of telly on "The Highland Clearances". The song relates to our ancestors being shipped off to the Americas and how there are many families who now live over there but hang on to their Scottish roots. It's titled "Scotland Once Again", and ...

In my opinion, this is one of the best Scottish songs ever written. Calum and Rory Macdonald of Runrig are the composers, and I love it. This is the title track from my latest CD and download. I hope I've done it justice. Filmed in the north west Highlands including Dornie. Kyle, Skye, and Torridon. All instruments and arrangement by yours truly. I wrote this song about my favorite place to visit in Scotland. I used to travel to Skye every fortnight as part of a job I had in my younger years. Hated the job, but fell in love with the place and the people. The memory of driving around Skye for two days at a time, is still vivid in my memory. This is a track from my CD "Going Home", available from www.ronnieross.co.uk. Also available on al...

Does anyone know song with the words including stag. Apologies for being so vague. It's year's since I heard it. Only clue it's a real head nodder and foot tapper. All I need is title. Can refer to Google later. Again apologies for being vague but the vagaries of time and memory have deserted me. Kind regards Oor Welly 🤗☕
Isla Grant wrote this beautiful song!
Very nice.

Did Scottland loose its balls at Culloden? Fight for your freedom. Ask the irish, how that works.
A class act
❤ Scotland 🏴
Wow marvellous
Wonderful music !!!
As a MacLachlan, I felt the spirits of my ancestors who fought there, as did my wife, a Fraser. The ancestors are real and present and exist in the memorial stones.
Fellow MacLachlan. I donnae ken of any clansmen who fought and died there, but my heart and loyalties lie with them. Fortis et Fidus!
Lovely. Reminds me of my friend Linda Milne. Still miss her. 😔
Absolutely love this what a great singer
Fabulous thanks
my real name is David Duncan Macdonald thanks for this

We lost...what can a defeated sub-clan say about a clan that not longer exists?
Beautiful music ! Greetings from Brazil .
I find the combination of accordion and fiddle (sans flute) in the performance given by Phil and Aly on US TV was the more successful arrangement. It was written by Phil (in some haste) as a raffle prize...
Stavo ascoltando le proposte della selezione automatica, senza guardare i video,su questa canzone mi sono incuriosita, pensavo la cantasse Elvis, complimenti, bellissima voce!
awesome voice
Gaun yersel brother!!
Love this song
Enlightning Thank you! 💗😔😢💞
Long live proud independent Scotland! Greetings from Germany.
Thank you for your kindness. Our love to Germany. Love from Scotland 🏴
We visited and felt a very eerie atmosphere.
Why do people romance about this battle, these clans where lead by a half polish buffoon who mainly spoke Italian and not a clue about warfare. Not forgetting nearly all highland clansmen and women we're human rent for their masters. Wig clans who fought on the Government side and lowlanders who despised these clans. The order of the day from the Bonnie Prince was no quarter given. Well that worked out well for the clans.
I Love Trains.....So much about life's journeys !
Take a listen to spink before you throw it in the fire ha ha
We have just enjoyed this song. On The Caithness Country Show. The Spotlight TV Channel. Absolutely beautiful 🥰🇯🇲🏴🕊️🔥✝️
Met Ronnie Ross many times, he sings this song perfectly.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Thanks Ronnie a very moving song, tugs the heart strings for sure just great take care always.
Tears in my eyes. 😢
Is this a gay night poor box playing
I have watched this several times. Something about it speaks to me. I don’t know why.
Tous c'est nons rymes avec beaucoup de nons de chez moi.
Lovely video, thanks. Shame the words don’t reflect the truth about the Jacobite rebellion. There were more Scots in the Government army and these brave lads faced the highland charge. Culloden was a tragedy.
Went up to the Highlands Hotel in steraphpeffer saw Ronnie Ross sing this ballad apsultly beautiful can't get it out of my head head he sang it from his heart met him after his show very loverly man ps thanks Ronnie.
❤❤❤
One of The BEST SONG!!🎧😌🎧
What people forget is that Scots fought on both sides of this civil war, with some clans fighting other clans. . At Culloden the Government army was made up of many many Scots. It was the last battle fought on British soil and contrary to popular belief was not between England and Scotland.. It was sad that so many people on both sides had to die and be injured. When I visit Culloden field, I remember with sadness all who died in this battle..
How true, I wince when I see many comments from the diaspora - and the hijacking of history for all sorts of purposes. The memorial inscription has a lot to answer for with its simplistic legend. Victorian romanticism hides a complex subject. Modern songwriters also have the problem of distilling the subject, so it often becomes twee, Incidentally, though there are clearly grave mounds, which were marked in 1880, no-one knows how Forbes of Culloden came up with the exact fixed name clan headstones. That may well be a part oral tradition, (which may in itself also be part bunk).
Love this - so beautifully played x
Great song Graham
