It’s not a defective design the newer echos 225 don’t have a catalytic it’s a straight threw muffler and that’s why they leak and that’s the other reason there emissions is now rated to 50 hours instead of 300 hour emissions just cause they don’t have a catalytic I don’t know why echo did this to me it was to lower cost. What I do is I go on eBay and I order a used echo muffler with a catalytic on it and the oil leaks completely stop I called echo and let them know about this issue and how I resolved it all they said was we are glad you resolved your issue and that they will pass it on to there engineering team this was 2 years ago and there selling the new srm225 with the same muffler with no cat I guess they don’t care.

Glad to see you’re out there grinding this winter. I don’t do much of tree work other than fallen limbs but still have enough other jobs lined up to keep us somewhat busy until Spring (weather permitting). Lots of rain lately after a very dry 2023. These days you have to get a deposit, especially for those bigger jobs. Most people getting more inconsiderate wasting our time doing estimates.
