@@mowais396 hi there. Thanks for commenting. Throughout your test, the examiner is looking for the test candidate to drive safely and under control. It's difficult for me to say exactly why the examiner braked for you during your test as I was not present at the time. The examiner should offer an explanation during the debrief. Hope this helps.

Nope seems fine to me... the bus wasn't moving as I went around it. It makes sense to slow down/stop to give way to a bus if safe to do so but as the bus was still and not in motion I feel it was best to just carry on. Maybe there was a car behind me and it wasn't practical to stop or maybe there was no one behind me and therefore the bus could move off after I'd gone past... this was so long ago that I can't remember.

So probably the areas where there are large roundabouts like near St Peter's hospital and also the A317 tends to be busy at that time. Was just looking for Dan to pull up safely and move off safely... not really looking for Dan to find a place where you can "park". For example, there might be a road on test where parking is only for residents... but it doesn't mean to say you can't pull up on the left and then move off again. In a real life scenario, you might just pull over for a short period of time to drop off a friend... perfectly fine.

Hiya. Thanks for your message. It all depends on the examiner and what he/she wants you to do. Also, it will depend on what spaces are available in the car park being used for the test. But... yes you might indeed get a choice if the car park is empty.

Hi thanks for your comment. These are real routes that were used on my pupils. I was in the back of the car so was able to memorise them. The DVSA don't actually publish their routes. There is an app available where you can follow the routes on the screen but I can't remember the name of it I'm afraid. It also costs money to use.

Hi there. Most of London Road is 30mph as far as I can remember, apart from a small section near the Green School which is 20mph.

Hiya Just had a quick look at the video at 17:50. Looks like we both wanted to turn right. Had we both got there at same time then it would have been a bit of a standoff situation but because I got there first it made sense for me to go first... no point stopping and waiting for the bus to arrive, that would have just made it a bit awkward

Yep you'll have to give way to them too as you're emerging from a junction with give way lines and also a give way sign... you'll have least priority.

Thanks for the questions... do my best to answer them... 25:05 - in my opinion that car was far enough away for Hugo to make the turn. Maybe it looks different in the video? Looks like Hugo was edging forward to gain a better view. The other car appeared quite suddenly and was travelling quick. Once you're committed, sometimes you just gotta go otherwise backing out and braking harshly to stop in the middle of the junction could be worse. The other driver had more than enough time to see what Hugo was doing and could have easily adjusted their speed if necessary. 31:31 - yep thats right... if there isn't anyone to benefit from the signal, then you won't get a fault for not indicating when you pull over on the left. 32:32 - yeah Hugo looks over his left but not his right shoulder... maybe in hindsight I should have given a fault there... the thing with driving tests are that I find the real examiners to be inconsistent with their marking... I've seen so many people pass that I would've failed personally and vice versa. We're all human... maybe I just missed it on the day... Hugo got luck LOL

Hiya... DVSA stopped publishing their actual test routes many years ago. These routes are just ones that have been used on my own pupils over the 15 years that I have been a driving instructor... so yes they are old but I can't see DVSA completely inventing brand new routes all the time.

The majority of the roads on the Isleworth tests routes are a 20mph speed limit... in my car (Ford Puma) there isn't any need to change up to 3rd gear at those speeds... in fact the car doesn't run too smoothly in 3rd at slow speeds.
