Why We Didn't Try Michelin Star Ramen in Tokyo, Japan!
We really wanted to try Tokyo's Michelin Star ramen at Nakiryu. We knew it was going to be busy but we had no idea you had to get a ticket at 8am for the shop opening at 11am so we got there just after 11am and all the tickets were sold out!! So after this failed attempt, we headed to Ramen Street underneath Tokyo Station to get our ramen fix as we didn't have time to go back (this time!).
Ramen Street has 8 shops all serving... you guessed it, RAMEN! The idea behind the street is to bring together many different types of ramen and every shop puts their own unique spin on their ramen, from different toppings, noodles or sauce - every ramen is different so you never get bored!
We chose one at random and chose one that specialises in seafood ramen and kelp soy sauce. We had just enough cash to get us two bowls of their standard ramen. We queued up for about 10 minutes outside and then once we were seated, our ramen came out straight away. It was so delicious but sadly not Michelin rated!

I'd say it's both, it's a fun place to visit but just be aware a lot of the stalls are catering to tourists and adjusting their prices. Same in London with places like Borough Market, as long as you go in knowing many of the stalls have adapted to cater to the tourist trap trade you'll be fine.
Totally agree! It’s definitely worth the visit but it’s very expensive compared to other places we’ve been where the tuna is just as fresh. Very similar to borough market too!

Fresher is always better, but we had equally freshly caught local tuna in other parts of Tokyo and Japan at maybe a 3rd of the price ☺️🇯🇵
