Loved 3rd ed,

A great battle report and what was for a while a very tense battle, and as always played in a good spirit. Great to see. Also this is the sort of Eldar army I'd much prefer seeing rather than something loaded with a single unit type like Jetbikes or Wraithguard

"Any sergeant or Nob is a character (...) so he can actualy pick out the Nob (in combat)"... This is not what I am reading from the rulebook. Characters can alocate attacks on miniatures in base contact as they see fit, yes (p75), but Wraithlords are no characters. The only instance where basic troops have to alocate attacks and roll seperatly is if ennemy models have different Toughness and Weapon Skills (p64). That is not the case of any ork Nob, they just have better Str/Attack/Init/Wound characteristics compared to the boyz they are leading. So no sergeant sniping unless you have a character in base contact that chooses to do so (and in this case all excess wounds caused are lost).

Great game, always love watching 3rd edition. Added bonus, I'm currently painting my Iyanden Eldar army so it was good incentive to see them on the battlefield 😁

Ah, it's nice to see a report that I understand. I don't get 40K now days, this is much easier to follow.

Warhammer 40k 3rd edition* fantasy has existed for much longer, fix or get a report.

I have not forgotten about that toughness eight on the wraith lord. Take more than one and you would be labeled as that guy.

Still don´t understand why I started to like 3rd Ed after a while... Was very against it at first.. But I had fun somehow.. Both 3rd and 4th Ed are much better than what is around now though. Much..

So the dreadnought should be hitting on 3+ after mods when targets are in hardcover. You only use the chart for the initial to hit which is a min 2 (not 1). See page 31 and the example at the bottom ;) great battle!

Q. How do you guys get round the issue of improvised attacks. In the wargear book it mentions under the blades and saws section that having a blade or saw avoids the -1 penalty for improvised attacks. However, in the rule book there is no mention of improvised attack penalties. This would mean that depending on what book you are looking at IG troopers are either subject to the -1 improvised attack modifier or not. Do you ever recall this being clarified under any Q&A? I suppose a work around could be to say either the first fumble is doubled or the first critical hit is ignored! Interested to hear your thoughts!

Great to see you guys doing some epic, can’t wait for the battle report! FYI contrast paint works fantastically well for epic scale models, white undercoat and slap it on! I 3d printed a Nid army and painted it all in a week using contrasts.

lol youre armies are always so interesting and diverse. i love that mose of the models are 2nd ed too. would love to see u use only 2nd ed models. also please put some transfers on the minis. that dark angels army looks so great but would be perfect with transfers! keep up the content guys. loving it!

I'm really confused by the "overwatch" type shooting rules for sweeping advance you use in the video. As I recall from playing 3rd edition, and checking my copy of the rulebook, you shoot into a sweeping advance unit during your shooting phase, its basically as if the unit isn't in close combat. "can be fired at before the next assault phase is fought" on page 69 of the 3rd ed rule book. It never refers to the shooting being done except within the shooting phase.

Thematic eh? We still play 2nd ed. and I'm the Eldar player, the only time I've ever run 4 squads of wraithguard is in 7-10k a side games 🤣. Does he also play Orks with nothing but twin Auto cannon bikes and pulsa rokkits?

First time viewer here and that was a great battle report! I only ever got the chance to play 1st Edition 40K but only heard good things about 2nd Edition - so it was terrific to watch your report and get a sense of how it plays! Super battle chaps. Marines vs marines always goes quick. My terminators never leave home without a cyclone launcher.

Do marines have targeters? I thought it was just dreadnaughts and vehicles?

You probably already found it but in regards to the auto-launchers, on p20 of the wargear book for 2nd ed it says "The first grenade in the spread automatically hits a point exactly 6" away in the auto-launcher's forward 90º fire arc. The other two grenades deviate D3" away from the target point of the first grenade."
