Ep. 1: Bloc Party's Russell Lissack
Russell very kindly agreed to be the first guest on my new interviewing series, where I will be (hopefully) interviewing some of my favourite musicians. He is my favourite guitarist and Bloc are my favourite band, so if you couldn't tell from the video I was very nervous lol. But I think it turned out great; we discussed some very interesting topics:

Thanks man. I’ve never understood y interviewers seem to only ask how the band started and if they thought they’d ever become famous 😂 I guess the research I did paid off!

Very cool mate! How did you manage to get the interview with Russell?
I have (kind of) known Matt for a while just through Instagram. When I started my band I went to him for advice as bloc r my favourite band. I initially asked him to do the interview but he referenced me to Russell as he thought it would be more beneficial speaking to someone who is currently in the band! I was so happy when he said yes. All lovely people. Cheers for watching

Great interview mate. Russell is such a lovely man! He recorded a good luck/congratulations message for me and my wife when we got married. We have been massive Bloc Party fans since 2004 so it meant the world. Can’t wait to see them again in summer, 20 years has gone so fast! Definitely agree that the music industry has changed loads. I find it a lot trickier to find new good music now. Ironic as we have everything ever at our fingertips. I am definitely one of the old farts who still listen to full albums as the artist intended. Good luck with your future episodes! Try and speak to one of the guys from Everything Everything!

I couldn’t believe it when I got a notification saying he’d replied to my request to interview him 😂 I guess he understands the struggle of someone trying to get into the music industry in the modern day. But I will certainly keep asking musicians to interview them! It’s difficult to get replies as my instagram and CZcams are so small; one step at a time though! Cheers

Did he say at all why Justin is now no longer listed as part of the band?? Is he on hiatus or did they separate ways?
I discovered bloc party on guitar hero 3 when I got to play helicopter and I fell in love with the song. Being 12 and in America at the time the only place I was able to find their music was on kitsune Maison compilations I downloaded via limewire... 😂 Fast forward to today where now Bloc party is my favorite band and I traveled all the way to France just to see them live only for them to finally come back to the US two months after their France show... 😂 Obviously I saw them again.
That’s a great story man! I met an American at a bloc party gig who had travelled all the way to the UK to see them. Crazy what people will do to see great live music.
I really want a rerelease of a weekend in the city on vinyl. I can't find a copy anywhere and online they all want 300$ fml
It’s difficult to tell whether that will happen because some members of the band seem to be more nostalgic than others. I get the idea that Kele wants to be consistently moving forward with the band rather than longing for the past. I’d be happy with a physical/digital release of their early demos though!

What Version recommend to me?
The 3 hour 50 min European version is the highest rated, most known and most loved one. Don’t bother with anything else if u do wanna watch. Hope u enjoy!
