Little Norway was a living Norwegian village museum located in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. It consisted of a fully restored farm dating from the mid-19th century. The Norse stave church was built in Orkdal, Norway by Christian Thams for the Norway Pavilion at Chicago's 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. In 1935 it was moved to Little Norway by its founder Isak Dahle. The attraction closed in 2012 a...

Thank you for posting this. My dad was in the 32nd Infantry Division and was part of this mobilization. He also volunteered for the guerrilla warfare training in Olympic National Forest. He had lots of stories from this time.
Very nice work!
So THATS why it's so expensive.... it takes ALOT of work!!!!!

The name names it sound easy! Amazing work!
Nice look back in time. I'm just like the old guy unloading the car trunk in that I always travel with butt-wipe at the ready.
Well made film - I love that car right at the start. What make is it?
Glad you enjoyed it. I was told by somebody in a facebook group that it's a 1936 Studebaker possibly President model.
@@videoscrapbookproductions Many thanks
Love it!!! What stripping agents do you use?
2 hours , tell me about the tanks, I want to set up here in Hamilton Ontario Canada
Thank you for showing your hard work.
I was surprised at how difficult it was to remove the varnish or paint or whatever, but i think cos i'd heard of dipping i assumed it would require an extremely caustic substance that instantly took of all the paint in one go. Maybe there is a thing that does that.
What chemicals are used when??
Thanks for the memories, Mike. I can't remember when I had my first ride on the ducks, but it was sometime in the 1950s. Later, when I was in the Navy, I visited a guy in California who was an US Army WWII vet who became a DUKW driver at the Dells after his discharge. Small world!
You can tell you have been doing this a good while an love ur job IT turned out looking brand new Well done
A tall order! Bravo! And artistically recorded too!💙
WOW This is an amazing process to watch, thank you so much. I think I counted 4 coats of paint. YOU ROCK!
Respect
All I can say is WOWZA! Very nice indeed!
Beautiful result. Such a pleasure to see a solid wood door being restored and reused. Nothing mass produced can match the look and feel of good wood.
How long before door is completely dry?
Approximately twenty four hours.
@@videoscrapbookproductions I watched your video on the door stripping. We are having 3 doors done- "1926" how long will we allow for these doors to dry before hanging back. Video was amazing, i can appreciate the amount of time and effort went into your work. Thank you for video. Australia 😊
During the late 1940s, this ride was a big treat; it was almost as good as going to the county fair in Baraboo.
Wow how much does one door cost to do$
In New York City a modern size interior door costs about $250 to strip. A large exterior door with four panels like this one might be more...
Very cool event 👍🏻
Interesting video in that it was "filmed" from several different locations around the Square. I watched the "official" live stream at 11AM Baraboo-time. One of the best Baraboo circus parades, IMHO. Thanks for this alternative view.
Nice peaceful views of several Canada Geese. Thanks!
surely a little mask will be appreciated by your lungs ?
Very striking video. Brings the meaning home.
I appreciate that. Thank You.
Thanks for this. Well done!
Thank You. I appreciate the kind words
I remember when the mill burned down - of course, we had to drive up and see it. Thanks for these reminders of my youth growing up in Sauk County. - GB
Just watched this again and really enjoyed it. Nice work brother!
Love this. What an extraordinary amount of time saved ! And the results are perfect, liquids go into every tiny crack and holes that can be so difficult to get to with classic techniques!
Very nice work!
Wow, nice work! I want two bedside tables stripped and to change the color- will call you around the summer…thanks!
I was stationed at FT Lewis from 2016-2019 and I remember these old whilte buildings ! we use to explore them and do training in them along with some airsoft every now and then. as of 2019 the base started demolition on them because of expansion and asbestos removal. Currently asignned to 132nd INF D Co 105th Cav Madison. with the Wisconsin National Guard GO ARMY AND THE RED ARROW!
Thank you for the Fort Lewis update and for your service...

I hope CNW 1385, WCC 1 and DR 9 are returned to steam someday
There are currently (2022), 3 known CNW COMBINES in various sites: 7409 in North Freedom. 7411 in Green Bay. 7403 in South Dakota. Compiled in 1996 !!-!
Hi from Green Bay !!♥︎. I used to work at the NRRM from 1984 to 1989, we used C&NW 7411 COMBINATION when I was both Conductor, and Tour guide, to go around our little circular track since 1961 when it was pulled by the little 29 0-4-0T named the Brillion Pioneer until 1975 then pulled by several different diesels like the Plymouth 20 Ton 702 from W.P.S. that was scrapped in 1997 by a different manager that wasn't a railfan and refused to let volunteers repair 702. BUT 7411 was also pulled by the diesels like ANN ARBOR//T.S.B.Y. 10 ALCO S3 1953. And Another Plymouth Diesel named : "MISS BUDWEISER" Painted red from Manitowoc. But relatively 20 years ago, or between 2000 to 2013???....7411 was retired again when the NRRM received the very large x-C&NW, x-Metra, bilevel coach. Thus 7411 is parked in the McCormick Pavillion. But the 29 BRILLION PIONEER is parked in the new Lenfestey Exhibit Hall and parked behind the Pennyslvania GG-1 4690 on track 3, and South of BIG BOY 4017 on track 2. But maybe we can use some hydraulic Jacks to lift up B.P. 29, and carry it to a repair shop for rebuilding, and run on the circular track, in time for the NRRM 65th Anniversary in 2026. And also repair 7411. These 2 were literally the Mascots of the NRRM during the 1960s with many photos and several postcards. Now we have to ask the NRRM BOARD with new members. Let Us Hope. And PRAY FOR A MIRACLE.!!!!! GLORY ALLELUIA!!!!! AMEN !!!!! WED, NOVEMBER 2, 2022A.D.
I grew up in North Freedom in the 1940s & 1950s; my Dad & a lot of relatives/neighbors worked at the LaRue quarry. Thanks for the memories, Mike.
So many concerns about this method …. No mask or respirator? No real protective eye gear , a few times I saw no gloves … hard worker for sure ! ,, love from sunny Florida ☀️💕
If the door went from an alkaline dip to an acid , they are neutral, as both chemicals neutralize each other. At that point it's safe on the skin.

Nice vid. Hope someone takes me out to hunt when I am a few years older.
What part of Wisconsin is this
Sauk County Southwestern Wisconsin
Labor and chemical intensive. Is it worth it vs a new door or is this mostly for preservation / reuse of antique furniture as opposed to changing the color or stain?
Virtually all new doors are veneered, which makes a very stable door but original growth solid wood is far superior in many ways. So a new door would be cheaper, but a new door of this same quality would be many times more expensive than this refinishing process, if it can be had at any price.
That amount of water will not affect the door ?
No, You just have to let it dry in a controlled environment
What is in the tanks?
First Tank is Methalyne Chloride, Second Tank is Sodium Hydroxide and Third Tank is Oxilic Acid
@@videoscrapbookproductions Are these chemicals dangerous? (Thank you)
@@gilessteve Not if used properly
@@gilessteve it's all about concentration. Oxalic acid is the main ingredient in bar keepers friend. But yes, they all can be. They also all neutralize each other, (acid/base etc) so after a rinse and another dip the chemicals go neutral. But it's absolutely something to let the pros do lol
