talk about the right guy to run a studio like that. Thanks to kyle for keepring this studio heaven alive. To me this is tonly second to the BOB studios, which willl never be restored. Are there more of these places ? Great video josh, love these videos. good camerawork as well but you guys could really do with an actual cam instead of phone to shoot, to make it more natural to watch. (shutterspeed, framerate, dynamic range stuff) If not the budget, try an app like filmic pro.

Amazing studio tour!

I worked there back in 2002 when it was called TK DISK and then it changed hands to AVEX. The Studio had 2 Large Yachts for the guests back then. The 112 channel SSL was used by the NFL to do all the Production work for the Pro Bowl. I only got to work there for a few months before it started closing down because of 9-11. NOBODY was Flying to Hawaii to Record at that time. It was a tuff time for Hawaii. It was very sad. I worked under 2 Great Engineers Troy and Gaylord. They taught me alot. I was just an Assistant/Runner, but it was a DREAM JOB!!! In 2004 I moved to Las Vegas to work at ODDS ON RECORDING. So Glad to see the Studio Still Up and Running and Looks Basically the same. I believe the Restaurant was Owned by Dolly Parton, but that may have been a rumor or false memory.. lol MUCH LOVE. ALOHA and MAHALO!!!!! PS that other room was an apartment for the owner and other rooms were for guests and musicians complete with showers

Just by his voice, I can hear the beautiful acoustics. I recorded there in the 80's during the prime time of those rooms. Everything that came out of those rooms sounded fantastic everywhere else.

What studio is this?

This is so sad, as there is a clear attempt to violate and distort the word 'musician. I'm afraid I have to disagree: While these engineers can work in audio plays, television, movies, and radio, where music might not even play a role, it doesn't make them musicians. Just as an automotive engineer specializing in music-related equipment doesn't become a musician, neither do audio engineers become musicians through their specialization. This distorts the meaning of the word 'musician' and contradicts its core definition. Musicians include composers, arrangers, and performers who create music,play in studio or live or sing, etc. They are all musicians. However, an engineer deals more with acoustics, meaning their primary focus is on the quality and properties of sound rather than creating music itself. They are responsible for capturing, enhancing, and balancing sound to ensure clarity and impact, but they do not compose or perform the music. Mixing engineers might make decisions that affect the musical outcome, but they do so in collaboration with artists who guide these choices. Therefore, while a musician can also be an engineer, and an engineer can be a musician, there is a clear distinction between the two roles. Lyricists, who are poets, do not fall under the category of musicians either.
