Hi there! Does your house have any brick/stone on it? And what is your roof color?

@crawfordstreetdesigns No stone or brick. The roof is tamko black walnut. I wrapped the front entrance posts in 1x cedar and was considering doing cedar faux shutters too. Thanks for any input.

I would probably go with PURE WHITE for trim if you want it to feel a little "lighter" (more 'stark' white) than the GV. Great question!

Hi there! How much of a contrast do you want between your main house color and trim color? Are you wanting the trim to "pop" against the 'white-ish' color? Or be more of a subtle difference? And what surrounds the house? Lots of grass? Any trees? And lastly- what finish is your exterior hardware (lighting, door handles, etc.)?

@@crawfordstreetdesigns I want my shutters to pop more than the trim. I was thinking of black fox on the shutters, maybe cornwell slate on the trim and white duck on the body, My front yard is small I have grass and one tree. My front door is stained dark brown leaving the door as is

Yes, it pairs very well with wood tones/browns!! And having some 'cream' will soften the deep color!

Do you know what the countertop and/or backsplash will look like yet?

@@crawfordstreetdesignsnot yet. I am thinking of Montauk Gin White 4x4 Mixed Finish Ceramic Tile as the backsplash and we will change out the countertop to a quartz.

@@nataliey07 LOVE the backsplash! Since your paint color (of the cabinets) can be completely custom to your space- I would wait until you find the quartz you like. You never know how much gray/cream it will pull.. or how much movement it has and if you want to "ground" that movement with a heavier cabinet color or not... The great thing is- quartz is manmade, so no matter which one you choose, it will look exactly like it does everywhere else (as opposed to a quartzite or granite that is naturally made and every single slab is different from another). In saying that- when you find a countertop you love- we could DEFINITELY lead you to a few colors options better than we could without knowing what will "top" that cabinet color. Would GV look good (not flat,dingy etc) in rooms with low light or darker areas? I have a bunch of white samples for beach house with not many windows. Now will look to get GV samples. There's light on 1st floor facing east with one Northerly window in the back of larger room. Upstairs windows to east, ,& one room additional northerly window. Yikes have to decide!

@@rileyhalls9301 this was the exact problem I was having. For example, the living room is full of windows on the water and the dining room is a little darker. I thought it would look dingy but it does not. I did the entire house as it’s an old 1930 historic home. GV looks perfect with all original hardwood! ☺️ I wish we could put pictures on here so I could show. Good luck.

@@rileyhalls9301 Yes! GV has a natural "sunkissed" warmth to it so that it doesn't feel 'dull' at all. It's very WHITE (so I don't want you to envision its warmth as 'creamy')... but it's a soft, natural white. It's good in low lighting, for sure because it plays well with 'grays' too (which tends to be picked up in lower lighting). I love that you're choosing colors for a beach house- how fun!!!

We are actually building a kitchen very similar to this right now and her cabinets are "Natural Linen". I would say anything that leans into pebble-y gray or soft, creamy white would look great! Flooring and countertops will play a major role in how you want that cabinet color to 'feel' too- so don't forget to include those when you're narrowing down options. We really love this color too! Are you thinking of painting the walls AND the ceiling? Or just the walls? Do you have a fireplace or any kind of "accent feature" in there (besides the slope which is really cool!)?

Yes! Anonymous is a great color for anything solid and linear like cabinetry! It really makes the color have a good 'strength' to it that is still soft enough to be 'homey'!

Hey Chris- you mean the actual color "Warm Stone"? You're not just describing your actual stone, right? :) And is the White Duck your siding? Warm Stone is trim? And Moth Wing for accents?

@@crawfordstreetdesigns the siding is White Duck and we have ledge stone on the front that is the color of warm stone.

@@TheChrismarinucci Sure. Moth Wing is a great 'griege' that will tie in with most brick/stone accents. It is a little more on the "subtle" side, so depending on how "strong" your stone looks (jagged edges, large shapes, deep mortar color, etc).. you might want to consider going just a little deeper so that the color doesn't get 'overwhelmed' being next to the stone! Funny enough, there is a color called "Warm Stone" that might work well if you want to try that one. There's not a huge jump from Moth Wing to Warm Stone, but it would be enough to feel a little more "weighty" in terms of color proportions.

@@crawfordstreetdesigns same hardie board as the siding, roof is black walnut from tamco and I wrapped the porch post in cedar with dark walnut stain.

Yes, Black Fox looks very sharp as a trim/gutter color... it plays well in a "linear" format! However, it does have a lot of "charcoal" to it... so while it will definitely pick up on the browns from your roof and stone... it will appear deep gray/black on the house... especially contrasting to White Duck! Which is a fantastic color approach- just want to make sure you're expecting "black" more than "brown"! :)

@@crawfordstreetdesigns what brown would you recommend then was thinking of SW Griffin but it might be too light?

@@TheChrismarinucci Griffin would definitely end up a lot 'lighter' than something like Black Fox would. There are some really great browns in the "Designer Collection" of SW, like "Tungsten". *Technically, the paint base that they mix the Designer Collection into is made specifically for these more "elevated" colors, and they tend to be a little bit more expensive than the regular colors- but if you're really needing something specific that looks 'elegant'- it's a great option. Some other "regular" SW colors you might want to look at are: Oak Leaf Brown, Status Bronze and Enduring Bronze. We do paint ceilings in certain projects, for sure! It really depends on what "shape" the ceiling is in... how high/low it is... how much natural light is in there, etc. Sometimes we paint it the same color, sometimes it's a lighter version of the wall color, and other times- it would just look better "white"! Hi there! There are a few trim colors that would work well, because Rushing River has great undertones. Oooooh, great combination!! Greek Villa and Tricorn Black are timeless and they pair so well together! Love that you went "Satin" instead of "Semigloss" on the trim/doors too!!

That's awesome!!! We LOVE a good, deep siding color!! Since it is so dark, you really have a pretty big range (in terms of depth) that would work for a trim accent. Let me ask you this- how "light" are you thinking you want it to be? Do you want it to appear 'white' or more... 'off white'? Stark contrast? My neighbor has shoji white on a darker green/grey home. Looks really good if you like the contrast of dark with light trim.

We’re going with Analytical Gray for our trim! The samples worked really well with our Thunder Gray samples. Crawford Street Designs was a major help in leading us to our final decision!

Yes, Jogging Path is a great earthy color! It's not necessarily "light", but it's serene, so it offers the same feeling as a "lighter" color would... while still partnering well with a much more "solid" feature, like oak cabinetry! Also, with it's 'barely-there' green undertone, it adds a little bit of contrast from all the 'brown'. Let us know if you'd like a large sample sent out!

We just mean that it's a similar shade to the hues found in natural wood components...especially if the wood has variation throughout it with multiple depths and/or undertones (like flooring). So a color like Moth Wing not only pairs well with existing wood elements (for example: trim), but it can also 'allude' to wood where you might want the feeling of wood...but in a paint color. Hope that helps!

Hi there Tammy! Do you have any other 'natural elements' on the exterior (brick, stained wood, stone, etc)? If not- try to stick to something with warmth, but without an orange undertone! A classic medium stain would work really well with a historic color like Roycroft Pewter! Look at "Hill Country" stain (by SW) and see what you think!
