Hey, I know this was three years ago but if you are still around i have a question. I am a bit tired of warm sounding full bodied amps, I have a Kenwood M1 and C1, I tried a newer amp (low budg) the Cambridge Audio Topaz SR10 and it somehow sounds very similar to the Kenwood stack lol. I have a separate phono stage and SMSL Dac, I just need a good preamp/amp. I am considering the Peachtree as I heard some demos on youtube and the soundstage it provides is incredible. I have other choices, the Rega Brio is one of them, about the same cost. I could also go with a Simaudio 220i (its just a bit old maybe). I listen both in nearfield and 2-3m away from bookshelf speakers. The full bodied sound has gotten annoying at nearfield. The speakers btw are Audio Physics Yara 2 compacts. Do you think the Peachtree would be interesting to me or do you think I will miss the full bodied warm sound? An example of when this happened to me, I switched from vintage AKG headphones to new AKG K712s, and at first i hated the 712's as the sound seemed to far from my ears and there was no punch in the bass and the guitars sounded so far and not loud, but now I much much prefer the 712s after getting used to them and find the vintage ones very muddy with barely any detail or instrument separation.

IMHO the 6000A is underrated and beats everything else around $1000. It just sounds noticably more realistic. By comparison, everything else sounds slightly veiled. If people prioritize punch/dynamics over accuracy/clarity, go for the Arcam SA10 and save $500. The Arcam SA10 delivers good realism/clarity equal to the Rotel with more dynamics and punch than the Rotel.

I bought this Yamaha amp for use in a second system. I find its sound to be fairly even, clear, a little laid back, smooth, reasonably detailed and easy to listen to, and has plenty of power when needed. I prefer to use my own outboard DACs which are a little livelier than the inbuilt one, although that is a good DAC. No evidence of any thinness or edginess found in the sound at all.

The current trend of shoving a DAC into an amp is just crazy, and I hate it. I mean, what audiophile worth his salt doesn't already have a DAC in his system? And even if a DAC is needed, it makes no sense to have a forced DAC/amp pairing. There's a reason hi-fi separates exist!

This comment about brightness being gone comes up 100's of times.I wager its a psychological/ auditory adjustment people make as we get "used" to the timbre.

This is by far the most astonishing and satisfying performance for the past 30 years with numerous combinations I have. You were so generous with your time in responding to me in the comments below another of your review videos -- the AE 309 -- that I thought I'd risk wearing out my welcome with a more in-depth question. I live in Cambodia but I'm planning to travel to Bangkok in early September for a one-day speaker auditioning blitz. The thing is, the selection isn't exactly anything-you-want even in Bangkok, and Dali is one of the few brands that's decently well-represented there (along with Acoustic Energy, which happen to be sold at the same store). My hesitation in auditioning either these or another Dali speaker is that when I really read between the lines of the YT review community, it sounds like my use-case might not make the best fit for anything with this company's badge. I know that's a bold statement, but what I'm looking for is a speaker that's companionable and cohesive at low to extremely low volumes. I'm not a detail-freak and I don't shake windows. The stand-mounts by Dali seem to be tilted too far forward (based on what I'm hearing), and the Oberon 5 -- which seems like the perfect comp for the AE 109ii or AE309 -- is reported to be only at its best when it's played at high to very high SPL's, at which point I think it will overwhelm my 360cm x 600cm poured concrete room. Do you have any thoughts? If it's not too much to ask, I'll describe the use-case and show you the current short-list, and maybe you can give a word or two of reaction -- especially if one or more speakers on the list can be stricken as automatically poor fits: Low to very low volume listening, much of it off-axis Piano jazz trios and quartets Room as described above but with floor-to-ceiling curtains at both ends Speaker placement roughly 90cm in from the front and side walls Occasional -- very occasional -- movie-soundtrack duty, but not enough to drive the process Current short-list Opera Prima 2015 Bookshelf KEF R3 Meta Monitor Audio Silver 100 AE 109ii and AE 309 KLH Model 5 I welcome any reactions you may have. My ex D20R were replaced by Harbeth C7esx3d for a reason! Main reason vocals never sounded good even with sugden master class ia4 or audio research vsi60, audio note dac2.1xsig, lampizator dac etc...

Will the Denon PMA 2500NE amplifier be good for the DT8 speakers?

I have a pair run by 150wpc full class A (Advantage S2/S150 amps), Cambridge 851D DAC running Roon. Result? Absolutely amazing dynamics, open, warm mid-range typical of class A and smooth, airy treble. The dynamics (Amp has 1800VA Transformer and 120000 microfarads of capacitance) are phenomenal. Highly recommended.

One thing that bothers me. I prefer inputs to be labelled not numbered.

I have an SL-1200 MK2 with a grado green and I keep hitting a road block when it comes to which cart I should purchase next! It’s between this one and the vm95ml by audio technica. My Grado sounds good and when I want my albums to sound a little warmer or more “vintage” I swap out my grado for my Shure sc35c which I love. Which is better in your opinion?

I had the same experience with this receiver's phono stage. Even with the phono offset adjusted, the sound had low resolution and was dull. I use a Pro-Ject Phono Box MM instead, which sounds much better.

Do you think this amplifier will pair well with Wharfedale Linton? I know in a WhatHiFi review that they paired with an Elex really well so this should be an upgrade, but not sure to be honest if it will pair well regarding sound signature, having in mind linton are towards relaxed and warmth sound and Rega is somehow more vivid/punchier and energetic.

Not for me whatsoever, I love my Aethos amplifier with nothing added, like my DAC etc separate, each to their own. I had the Elex 4 and wasn't fully happy with it, the Aethos on the other hand drives the speakers much better.

Ok, I am going to weigh in here. I have had the Chord Ultima in my listening room for about three weeks and what has been described here mostly matches what I experienced. Now comes the alternative. I own a Gato Audio AMP150 class AB amp that is on par with the Ultima and betters it some areas. The main difference, I will put it out there, maybe the Ultima may have the edge on the toe tapping front. It seems to be able to Gel everything into a cohesive whole just that little bit more. Now, before anyone says oh the price difference; The Gate AMP 150 was for sale for upwards of 8k before GATO changed their pricing model. Please listen to both before making your choice. The other thing of note is the inputs and outputs. I find the Ultima limited in this area against the competition, especially if you have analogue tape as part of your listing equipment or you may want to include a headphone amp. Also I recommend investing in a mains conditioner if you really want to hear the Ultima at its very best.

I own a mk.2. It is very noisy. On internetfora you can read in is a common problem. And the is no solution. I replaced it for a Lehman Black Cube that is deathquiet.
