Best Lovecraft reading I’ve heard. The subtle feeling is superb!

Dude im 5 chapters deep and like… yeah. Its a well thought out world, but theres not really a story here. All im hearing is the abysmal day-to-day life experiences of Winston. Thats not a story, anymore than following a microsoft programmers day to day life is. Im confused, is it supposed to get better? Its certainly grim listening to how things in this world operate, and certainly theres a sense of pleasure listening to how terrifyingly authoritarian it is, in the same way almost like how watching a horror movie and anticipating a jump scare is. If it does get better, its a slow start for sure. Id love to see this turned into a movie.

The world is becoming a combination of 1984 and Idiocracy. Very frightening, people just tell me I have a weird perspective of the world but I see it more everyday 😢

How can I put together the disappointment that I hear with my ears but feel as well, I do not like the abridged version that you are giving to the listener as well as cutting a beautiful book to adhere to your pleasure. This is culture and you have cut it and you have built, something that pleases you, so thank you for disturbing and disrupting a very cultural and iconic book and leaving it in Tatter and building it up to please people who are very sensitive and cannot take the truth in conclusion if you cannot take the truth and understand that things happenin that error of time then you are not only weak, but you are ignorant thank you for listening.

We are made aware of unknown creatures some as large as whales. Creatures that have a civilization and connexions to the dry land above. Even now over 100 years later the majority have not been explored. Though humans have fished so much that said beings may find the need to gather food closer to the surface than the safe depths below. Their numbers are great and their claws are sharp. We are safe here on the dry land away from the slimy seas of our birth many millions of years ago. But inhuman eyes watch us and know too much of us than they should.

After hearing the excellent reading of this, Poirot TV series ‘the kidnapped prime minister’ is an almost complete fabrication of original AC story which is pretty disappointing. It’s an episode which doesn’t make sense in so many parts eg for one - 2-3 people only in the plot and kidnapping of a PM!

Brilliantly clear and well paced narration of a book so intensely 'down' that I couldn't face reading it on the page. I am getting hooked. Beautifully read by Arthur Lane, Thank you.

Everytime I listen to an audiobook I fall asleep before the 1st chapter is over and when I wake up the book is already finished.

Never more not see Homer and bart when hearing this. Edgars poem is burned into my childhood due to Homer, they really were comedic geniuses in those writing rooms too add to these great works.
