Been having issues with a socket in my bedroom causing the whole house to go dark but thankfully those I live with knew what to do so I, rather stupidly, never bothered to learn. I know where my mains box is but never had to do it myself before so this helped when I was alone at home. Thanks very much!

This is why the stat of electrocution is very very high here in NZ compared to Australia. In Australia, we don’t see anything like this, Electricians is the only qualified people to touch the switchboard if any fault happens in the circuit. You just encourage people to be do things illegally and dump people who spent hours at the polyptec and practicals to be qualified. You don’t help anyone here mate. Selfish attitude that comes out from people like this.

Hi, we used 3000w heater directly to the wall plug .. on night suddenly we hear small explosions and than everything turns off in the room, than when I checked the Breaker box i saw one tripped out, I tried back it online but every time its immediately tripping out with sparks and noise, than I unplugged everything but its keep jumping out, i was thought maybe the breaker was defect, but after installing the new one again the same issue, i controls the plug which the heater was plugged but i found nothing, its look like a wire inside the wall is burned and causing shortcuts.. anyone have any idea please ?

3:11 = The sockets are dead because the fuse refuses to go on. All sockets will be dead, so how can you check which ones are faulty?

Thanks for the logical path to isolate tripping faults. Ours tripped twice within an hour last night, never happened before, but been raining for almost a month solid, so suspect one of the outside lights. If it happens again, I'll follow the steps to try to find the culprit.

I have an issue on the socket circuit, if the power remains on with everything thing unplugged is the problem 100% with an appliance or could the house electrics still be at fault? as multiple appliances using diferrent sockets cause the power to trip? thanks for any help.

Hi Martin, what do you do if a socket is full of water? Because the kitchen sink was leaking silently and there were some sockets and cables in that cupboard and dishwasher on the next one. BG engineer didn't fix the socket, he said the leak needs to be investigated and covered up the socket now can't use anything in the kitchen because the kitchen switch on the fuseboard trips off straight away, it used to be time to time before he attended today :( we stopped the leak going into the cables but I think needs time to dry however I don't understand how he managed to make it worse and why he didn't fix it!?

What's happening is the one socket switch is making the RCD switch trip so I can't have it all on it's either the rcd stays on or the socket switch stays on because it just trips when you try put them both on not sure what to do here
