I own 16mm on my Z5. Stunningly awesome lens for just 500$(with promo code). I just hope Viltrox makes more of such lenses on Z system, 135mm is my wish.
I would pick the 16mm 1.8 It's sharper, wider, and faster than the 20mm. Great test and photos!

D850, Texas ... $1,200
Well done I purchased recently, have not use much yet. Itâs a beautiful lens with great features. One negative is weight.
I had to subscribe! I watch a lot of others but your settings provided on each image and your video is done very well. Thank you! I have picked up a used 200mm to 500mm lens and used it on a Nikon D5300. Wow is an understatement! I got such clear images but yes, focus is difficult on jasmine vines and really leafy trees. I am really good at getting birds in congested areas but prefer them not to be anyway. Nailed some great hummingbird pics a few days after getting that lens! I do have a Sony A73 but no big zoom lens for it...too expensive for the used price so far.
Ok @adrianalfordphotography, I have a D850 with a 80-400 lens and also use the Group area AutoFocus as per the video for birds in flight - still not getting tack sharp, what could I be doing wrong?
Help me AA, please!
Hi Adrian Great video have been trying to decide which of these two lenses to bye going for the 16mm no contest. Thank you.đ
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Adrian, a great video, buddy! For me the use case is the main criterion for a lens. In general, I think they are both good. And cheap So if one would be unsure, buying both would be an option đ Enjoy your weekend, Christian
Hey Christian thank you for watching. Much appreciated. Have a great weekend buddy cheers đ
Another great review on these lenses and a hard one to choose - many thanks for sharing the information and have a great weekend Adrian đ
Thank you for watching Shaun. Hope you have a fantastic weekend over in Spain mate. Cheers đ
I bought it because I had the 13mm 1.4 on Fuji. This is an excellent lens, and it was selling for 460.00 on Amazon and B&H. With Amazon cash, I got it for 466.00 tax included. Excellent video, Adrian, and the reviews on the Laowa 10mm 0 Distortion I still dream about buying that lens too.....overkill, probably right.
Hello Adrian, I purchased the 20mm when it first came out, in part due to your first review on it. It is a lens that cost very little and takes no space or weight in your camera bag. I have used it several times with my Z7 and I am very happy with it. It is a great companion to the 24-70 F4S when you need a little wider view. Great comparison, thank you.
Thank you so much for watching my friend. They are both great lenses for specific types of photography / videography. Hope you have a fantastic weekend cheers đ
Certainly will be getting one of them before we head to Iceland in October. Great comparison mate, leaning towards the 16mm but the size of the 20 is so appealing!!!đđđđ
Thanks for watching Scott. Iceland in October = northern lights! No doubt I would definitely have the 16mm F1.8 on the end of my camera 100%.. You'll want as wide as you can go and as fast as you can go. Cheers mate đ
Great comparison, Adrian! I enjoyed it.
Cheers Phil appreciate you watching đ
Cool comparison and lots to think about. Amazing how the stars seemed to be so much brighter with the 20mm. Thanks for sharing.
@@slimbirdy have a great weekend - thank you for watching đ
I ended up buying the 16mm after your astrophotography vid you made on it. Dope lens, I'm really happy with it.
Glad you're enjoying the lens. I was just out the other afternoon with that lens doing some long expo sunset photos. Thanks for watching đ
Another thing I neglected to mention is the Viltrox 16mm F1.8 is better in low light situations due to its faster aperture. If youâre budgetâs tight and youâre traveling, hiking, vlogging and need a light weight set up - grab the 20mm F2.8. For astro, low light, landscape or architecture I think the 16mm F1.8 is pretty amazing.
My Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8 G lens is a great zoom lens. I use it with a Nikkor 28-70mm f/2.8 D zoom and a Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8 D zoom.
Mate you are a Rock Start. I love your channel and your content.
I recently bought the Z 14-30 f4 for my Z6II and absolutely love it for all the reasons you mentioned. I also have the 14-24 2.8G for my D750 so I really enjoyed this comparison Adrian...thanks!
Thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated.
Great video, i love my d850 and was starting to look at mirrorless but after watching i am going to keep shooting with the d850 i can vouch for the battery life i am an (very) amateur motorsport photographer and still get 1200+ images out of my original pack that is about 5 years old which is now including a little bit of video
Is there a particular app to use on PC windows 10,11 that will open this bin file so I can copy and paste to my CFEXPRESS card Adrian? Thanks for your content!
At the download stage you can choose PC / Mac. You don't open the .bin file on your computer (it's not meant to), you just right click and copy the .bin file and then paste on your memory card. Then put it into your camera.
I own both as well and I will say that the D750 does a better job of focusing in low light over the D850. The D850 has a tendency to hunt focus a bit. Love having both options at my ready! Great video!!!
Nice find on the Bronze Cuckoo. Very helpful video for Nikon dslr users scouting for Z cameras. Hope Z50 upgrade is on its way.
Do you know if my Nikon afs 200-500mm lens will take great pictures with the Nikon D750 camera? I take pictures at 50 yards and further. Top notch video. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. â€â€â€

Hi Adrian - Great video as always. I will be upgrading my Z6ii to Z6iii as most of my shooting is sports and wildlife. The 3D tracking will make it a good comparative to my D750.
very frank and clear advice ... I am similar to you with a raft of F mount cameras that I love ... great video ...
A Nikon 14-30 with the tamron 35-150 is a killer combo for sure. The 35-150 replaces sonmany lenses. The 24-120 is grt for travel sure but when it comes to versatility the tamron is better. For things like capturing any occasions or concerts of your children the tamron wins hand down.
I own and use the 14-24mm f/2.8 Nikkor auto focus zoom lens. I have never owned or used the 16-35mm f/4 auto focus zoom lens because the f/4 maximum aperture is too slow for my style and subject matter. I do, however, own and use a Nikkor 20-35mm f/2.8 auto focus zoom lens.
Hi. I have 2 questions.. 1) Which one would be the best for portrait photography..?? 2) in tamron lens can we set and have the constant aperture e.g., f/4 throughout 35mm to 135mm (to use in videography)..??
Answers to: 1 - Tamron & 2 - Yes

Good lens..
Good Evening, Adrian! The D850 is the finest DSLR ever made by Nikon to add the vertical grip increase in fps to 9 frames a second and also big file size for heavy crop etc. but D750 Joy uses Great Excellent image quality + Outstanding dynamic range at low ISOs. Excellent high ISO performance. Good buffer depths when shooting JPEGs. New highlight-weighted metering mode. Good performance from the built-in flash.
Hi Adrian another great review my friend. Great lens for the price. Video and portraits taken were outstanding. Have a wonderful weekend đžđđŒđ
Many thanks for watching my friend - have a fantastic week ahead đđ
thanks, do you use filter with this lens ?
My D750 is still going strong, and I'm really happy with the images it produces (not leaving me wanting on image quality). The lenses available now for mirrorless though are so tempting (sharper, smaller, sometimes lighter, and different focal lengths esp. for wide angle) and just aren't available for F-mount. Has me really debating a Z6iii, or a Z8! Or, maybe just a D780 for a minor upgrade.
Adrian, excellent review as always. Interesting lens to say the least, that said, for me I am more interested in full frame options to get the most of my Z7. Thanks again my friend.
Thanks for watching my friend. Hope you have an awesome weekend đ
