This aired 4 days after my late mom's 39th birthday when she watched this on WCBS Ch 2 living in East Keansburg, New Jersey. At the time, she was engaged to my dad and they were married 3 months later by Oct 12th.

I missed so many episodes due to work ages ago, so nice to get to see these again, and the commercials.

I had forgotten about Vanessa Chamberlain. What a witch.

I never understood soap operas.

Vanessa is very like Diane Ballard. She wants to get closer to people. Doesn't know how. So she alienates those who might be friends and allies. She's got inherited wealth, so she doesn't have to scheme as much. She's particularly bad with women. Even when she's not stealing their men. Ah well. Soapworld.

Guiding Light was the best there was. I especially loved the 70's. I couldn't stand hoity-toity Hope. To self righteous for me.

Barbara said that she thought of Ed just like her sons Ken and Andy. Gee, thanks Barbara; one's an attempted murderer and the other is an extortionist. LOL

Boy Fletcher Reade, and Buzz Cooper have had the most challenging personal life this side of the moon.

Maybe unpopular opinion, but I REALLY like the original Blake the best. And the original Alan-Michael. The original Dinah as well. The only recasts on GL that really worked for me were Maureen, Amanda, Mindy and Beth. And maybe Phillip. I didn't even really get into the last Alan until they paired him with Annie. And PKL should never have axed the character of Roxie.

Bert knew this would devastate Hope.

That commerical makes me sad it is 30 bucks now. The hosts of Wheel of Fortune look the same it is pretty creepy.

Josh is the dumbest man

I've watched alot of these Ladies hanging out and talking, and sometimes I see "Lesbian" overtures. Rita and Eve, then Jackie & Elizabeth even on The Doctors when Elizabeth Hubbard was having lunch with a friend at her Apartment there's this running joke about "Having Lunch". Also in The UK there was a Soap Opera called Doctors.

At 17, ipI was still watching GH at this point. I didn’t convert to GL until 1991. This Blake reminded me of Glenn Close. And Maureen Garrett as Holly was always amazing!

When Phillip asked for water, I chuckled. I guess doing something so normal like asking for water during such a bizarre dinner scene hosted by a man hiding behind a mask is kinda funny. 😄

I love these episodes! I got into Guiding Light with Susan Piper and did not know all these people. Hope is the worst!
