Have You got some good quality picture from phono board soldering and component side?

Does anyone have a good quality picture of the Arcam phono board? Both sides, soldering and the parts side. DIVA A85 DIVA A90 FMJ C31 FMJ AV8 FMJ AV9 FMJ A38

Which value me does the potentiometer have? I have this exact model sitting on my desk. It was given to me free of charge and the information “does not work anymore, maybe you can repair it- and if not, just toss it”. Turns out the potentiometer is in a condition similar to this. It basically sheared off the board, presumably after the unit being dropped. Everything else looks fine.

good stuff. Im used to the big power amps for PA and Music. 400W @ 8 ohms Stereo type stuff. This is very good though.

Hi! I have a similar Amplifier ( I think), RA-931, and for quite a while I've been struggling with my source select switch, which struggles with the right channel. I have to set it in sort of "in between" position to get a clear output. I am an amateur when it comes to electronics, but I thought I might take a stab at it. Have you had experience with this issue before? Is it just dirt that is stopping the rotary switch from working or does it have to be replaced? Thanks in advance!

Interesting that you say the Onsemi devices do not work - they took over Sanyo, so you'd think they'd be the same! I've often found Rotel amps are a bit "on the edge" regarding stability... so it's no surprise that a slight change in the output device characteristics would make it oscillate. Another thing I often do with these amps is replace the bridge rectifier with a higher current part. They often used 4A rated bridges and sometimes the bridges fail if the amplifier is run hard. Similarly, the pass transistors used for the low voltage supplies often run too hot due to their TO-92 package size, and I substitute them for something in TO-126 - BD139/140 work well enough

It needs a 3 year warranty. These amps are the pro audio equivalent of an Amstrad amplifier.

Always amazes me that the circuit design is the same as a 1980s Rotel RA-820BX3 . And apart from a few minor tweaks and rebadging the design never really changed in over 2 decades. In fact some of the earlier iterations had Black Gate Caps fitted as standard and IMHO sounded better.

Very good sum up of common faults. I would add replacing the two xhong filter capacitors as they loose value (go high ESR) with std. Nichicon 50V 12mfd or CDO 63V 12mfd (same size).

Thanks for listing the issues in the description! My NAD C320 Seems to be having a similar issue with the AUX relay. So I am going to replace it. I restore vintage electronics so I will be fine. But just though I'd google my problem befor I jumped in.

Hi informative, I am working on a c372. From NAD the advice was to change the 80v 10.000 uf in 100v 10.000 uf. My question is if I put 6x 100v 10.000uf in which part i have to adjust for this extra ask of the system?

Hi thanks for the great video. My PM7200 does power up anymore. I push the on/off button but it’s completely dead. Power light doesn’t come on. There is voltage going into the power board. Fuses are not blown. But there is already no power at the main transformer. Any advice? Thanks!

I picked up one of these Delta 90's at the carboot yesterday. As ever got it home only to find it lit up but absolutely no output. Would you undertake it's repair for me?

Trying to fix one of these for someone. Power supply seems ok but how many voltages should it create? I have 24V I think it was. Thinking to remove amp section and replace with a 3 chan bluetooth amplifier with sub out and 2x 50W to the main. A bit over powered but it can run from the original PSU (just). I was going to suggest this to the owner and velcro it on the top / back because starting to get difficult. Looks like someone tried to replace some smd caps. can't see much else, no schematics!

I have a Technics model SU-X911 stereo integrated amplifier as part of a stack system - it's been together since new in 1989. Recently the amp won't power up. I un plugged it and re plugged turn on it was fine. The next day the same thing, only unplugging it did not work. I fiddled a bit with the wires and came back to life. Now today it's done it again, was working for a few hours left it for an hour came back wont power up? This time nothing I try seems to bring it back to life?

I had one from new 1989. Gave it away, near mint. I have 3 other Arcam amps, baby,Junior and digital 80-150 W one beast. Great amps Warmish sound but with tone defeat too. Build quality Facilities Reliable SA CD Player/streamer also great. Remote control poor. Great gear and VFM

I had an intermittent problem of one speaker channel dropping out. Then fuses F901 and F902 blew. I replaced these and switched on with nothing except power connected at the back. Resistor R626 immediately fried. Transistor Q620 looks to have failed...getting 3.3ohms from between the outer legs but 220ohms on the other three (all in-situ). Is this likely to be the cause or a symptom of something else? Should I replace all the small rectangular transistors on that channel too as you say? If I end up replacing this with a used amp, maybe 5 to 10 years old, which manufacturers do you consider to be most reliable? Thanks in advance.

I wondered if you can help i have a Audiolab 8000A in for repair and i want to check and adjust the Bias level as this veriant i have here has actual pre-set adjustment pots but every manual i find on line talks of having to put resistors into circuit to set up bias i cant find a procedure for this amp with variable pots. What did this repair cost? I have the exact same symptoms. Definitely intermittent, as I tested outputs from CD and cassette tape players with no issue. Thought it was the turntable. Replaced it yestetday. Enjoyed listening to three records. Put one on this evening and left channel dead--only this time it was dead for all devices. Given that this unit is about six years oldb

Spent ages on this amp. Had one of the mosfets in the power amp leaky. Replaced, still goes into prection mode. Once channel I see PWM waveform, other channel no. I guess the controller chips have been damaged? Other cold checks seem okay.
