The sound algorithms on FB, Insta, and TikTok are HORRID! The "Loudness Penalty" on CZcams is annoying but if you're listening on a decent system, the quality of the original recording does not suffer as much.

@fulinibassman Here's a link to a photo of my mess of a pedal board! If I could only keep three pedals, they would be the Spectracomp compressor (on for all of my recordings), the Sentry noise gate, and the tuner, all by TC Electronic. The sustain pedal I use in this video is a Plus pedal from Gamechanger Audio. Cool idea and very well built, but I've only ever used it in 2 or 3 videos. The four-button silver box controls my Darkglass amp (Clean/VMT/B3K/Mute) which I use for almost all songs requiring distortion/grit. Yes, should be played with a pick. Unfortunately, I can't hold one due to severe arthritis at the base of my thumbs so I just make do without.

Indeed. Unfortunately I can't grip a plectrum because of arthritis at the base of my thumbs. That's also why my left hand technique is so poor because I can't apply any counter pressure to the back of the neck with my left thumb.

Thanks! I learned it by ear but I could work on some tabs if needed. I know I'm not playing the middle parts quite right re: notes vs pauses over the kick drum but it's as close as I could get.

2016 Fender. My first "fancy" bass. It came set up perfectly with low action and zero fret buzz. Still my favorite to play.

​@bobfun1479 Thanks! They're one of my favorite bands as where the Minutemen before them. I recently noticed that I played the intro/verse riff incorrectly on Choose Any Memory. It still sounds okay but it's simpler than the one he plays on the album.

Same here, fIREHOSE always took the cake for me for no reason other than i listen to em' more. But minutemen is one of my all time favorites for sure. I wouldn't of noticed until you pointed it out, but it still sounds soooper close. For me fROMOHIO is my favorite, i'd love to learn some tracks off there. I'm trying to get my by ear skills down, so your videos help that alot. Good taste man!

Also Courage is one of my favotite minutemen tracks, i wonder if that one would be doable?

Do you have Silveresque CD?

I did, but it delaminated before I could get it ripped. (When I discovered this was starting to happen to some of my CDs I started an "urgent" project to get them all backed up to digital copies. That was 10 years ago and, predictably, I still haven't finished the project but I have developed the good habit of ripping every new CD I buy as a backup copy just in case.)
