I sailed on her in the spring of 1997. We got stuck in the ice almost under the Mackinaw bridge with 2 other ships. We spent the night stuck in the ice, in the morning the Mackinaw ice breaker came and broke us out. The ice was bad that spring, we got stuck in the ice 3 times in one week. I had a bow cabin, when the boat went through the ice it sounded like the end of the world.

Wasn’t a training drill. This was my son having fun while hitting. He was playing around with the dog’s collar before this, and wanted to go hit. I would never expect all fair balls, fouling off pitches are part of the game, and a good plan for some at bats.

Thanks! The ice balls are formed with quickly freezing ice and the waves moving them around. Usually does not happen in the oceans, just the freshwater lakes.
