so glad I came upon this video! just broke two of the shafts messing around trying to get the knobs even.i didn't have any straws so instead I used some heat shrink tubing ive got,not quite as rigid as a straws but seems to work.knobs still a bit wobbly but I can live with it.

Super glue a couple tiny pieces of a business card, one piece at a time, to the side of the shaft that is still in tact. Use this to fill the space in the split and use barely any glue, just enough, make sure it doesn't bleed into your pot obviously. Then glue the broken piece back onto the pot shaft and connect it to the paper in between the two sides, again using just enough glue. The main reason you just can't superglue a broken split shaft back on is because there is not enough surface to make a good contact, that is what the paper is for. Hold it in place tight for 5 minutes, let it dry over a period of hours. If you don't take your time to let it dry and put your knobs on too soon, they will get glued on. That is the only way I've been able to make it like almost as good as new. Wouldn't you have to make a new straw "crutch" for it everytime you removed your knob? I learned this method because I had just replaced a pot and the new one broke, I didn't rest all night til I had a permanent fix as I was pretty ticked about it. Wasn't about to replace it again. For anyone who would like to try something more permanent. EDIT: Appreciate the video bro and not a bad idea. Your method is easier, I'll give you that.

The straws in Australia are too damned thin or to bloody big but if I slit down one side it may hold.

Heatshrink would be my choise. No need for finding the correct size straw. Good tip though! I'm in a situation that i need to extend my pot shaft and this video helped me to think of the heatshrink and some extension piece. Thank you!
