It hits him square on the head from at least 40 feet away and bounces off his head 3 feet in the air then lands again intact on the pitch. Glass is not allowed into a football ground. To the fan throwing it, it wouldnt have seemed like chucking a plastic cup was no bid deal. The bottom edge has caught his head just right to split it open, but the fan probably wouldnt have expected it to injure him that badly.

Soccer world would change if in situations like this the home team was disqualified. The team's owners would find the way to select the fans and inside every firm there would be a fight before someone try to throw somethin in the field. Everyone would be identified before going inside the stadium and would be more respectful in order to this. And so, if your team is going to lose 3-0 at the 90th minute and you throw somethin thinking that you have nothin to lose disqualifying the team for the next 5 years should solve the rest. It's easy if you want, people goes to the stadium just for enjoying the show, not for seeing this sh*t.
