I use GH5 for B cam and GH6 for A cam. And then rent the GH5s here and there. Love these cameras but if you’re gonna depend on autofocus….Goodluck. GH6 has gotten a little better with it plus being able to shoot at 5.7k is always awesome + 4k 120fps. Definitely cheaper camera bodies for the budget friendly person. We find it hard to find a better combo of a GH6 paired with their 25mm-50mm lens constant aperture… pair this with the dji 3 pro and focus motor on a wedding day and your a sniper on the fly being able to go from 50mm to 100mm equivalent has been a game changer to create different looking shots fast. Someone help me find a better combo with Sony please… thanks 🤣

5:47 Thank you for turning me on to A Little Long Distance! Their stuff is gorgeous. They shoot on a DSLR though?! I would have guessed a C300 or something for the ACam. The image quality is so good and the nostalgia factor works really well. Love this though, I love getting inspiration from watching other peoples videos, but hearing the thought process behind other videographers approach is eye opening too!

Great video. My cousin wants me to film some of her wedding on Super8 and to use my "Dad Cam" lol Sony Hi8. I use to video her with that Sony when she was like 4 years old in 1999 when I first bought the camera. I shot my other cousin outdoor wedding on Super 8 this past fall 2023. I've been shooting super 8 since I was a kid in the late 70s and early 80s. I have our family Super 8, It's a regular point n shoot type, fix focus just a zoom. Takes great movies for what it is since it's over 45 years old. My issue is editing after I get it transferred to a digital file. Normally I just transferred my old Vhs/Hi8 tape to a digital file, and I'm done. But my question is, what is a good software/program to edit with? Thanks!

I love the idea of chasing the story, do you have a template/guide on how to do that? For example, I’m totally guilty of the 30 second b roll intro, but it’s a cookie cutter plan I have for the day off that gives me a mental checklist so that I can “feel” organized and accomplished by the end of it. So what kind of checklist/approach do you take to be a “journalist” on the wedding day?

Loved these tips! Especially in regards to not focusing on only the details but the story of the couple. Many couples see the generic wedding films online and think that’s every film but we have to convince them that their story’s is worth more than a slow motion montage. We’ve been digging much deeper with our couples lately and they loved us for it because we gave them something they weren’t even expecting.

The standard frame rate for wedding videos was 30i until around 2011, and the style was more of a live video format. Before then, it was a lot harder to get a film look if you weren't actually using film.

I’ve been filming weddings since September 2015. I used to be pumped going into a wedding day. Even if it was an 8-10 hour wedding I would be up for it. Over the past few years I have been filming fewer weddings. Most of them I filmed as a contractor for other companies. I have questioned my own commitment and ability to grow my side hustle as a wedding videographer. Now, I’m married with a 6 month old. I started a new job in a new industry. I’m not sure if I’m ready to leave wedding videography. I’m taking the year off to decide. If I decide to keep going I would want to challenge myself to grow the business somehow. Otherwise, it’s better to quit and balance time between my job and my family. Just telling myself it’s okay to take a year off is hard when I’ve been doing this for so many years. I hope you all can find peace in your decisions no matter which direction you choose ❤

I Love use the Sony a6400, no record limit, no over heath and good Image

I'm still using them, GH5 & GH5S with Panaleica lenses. The performance and the light weight is the best. I don't care AF neither low light situations, there is where the Sony comes to the rescue and a complement to my gear.

We still use the GH5 as our B cam. In 24 10 bit she still a beast

That 10bit all intra was so far ahead of its time. I’m still using the GH5 and the GH5s for my professional work. The GH5s with its dual gain sensor was so incredible. Wish they would release a similar version with the Gh6.

Sheading a tear as I watched this... Literally just sold mine, it was my starter camera (Blessed to say that) and served me well, just trying to pair color grades with my Sony camera's is a drag especially in low light conditions where the full frame camera's really shine. I was as so spoiled with the Panasonic's stabilization tho.. going to miss the hell outa that camera till I can afford to buy another 🤧

I’m still using it and the GH4 the battery life is very good but poor in low light
