Ten Cylinders of Pure Cummins B-Series Power!
zhlédnutí 235Před 3 lety
The Annual BarnyardEngineering fall harvest video, filmed on September 26, 2020. The IH 856 was down with a leaky radiator, so my 5240 Maxxum got put on the blower. I've been filling silo with the 856 on the blower since 1987, and I can tell how much is going in the blower by the sound that tractor makes. Since I could not play it by ear I had to take it easy on everything, more than usual. Cas...

Whatever Happened to the $500 Cub?
zhlédnutí 196Před 3 lety
For both of you who are wondering what happened to the $500 Cub project, here's some found footage of the finished tractor. All the rotted parts were replaced with parts I purchased at an IH collector's estate sale. Ultimately, I sold the Cub to a fellow Cub enthusiast not long after this video was shot.
Chisel Plowing in a Snowstorm
zhlédnutí 153Před 4 lety
Lest the youtube community accuse me of being an armchair farmer, here I am doing actual farm work! Chisel plowing down some fresh snow, which old timers claim adds nitrogen to the soil. At times I was running in near whiteout conditions, to which the video doesn't do justice. If anybody knows how to add transitions between clips to movies made in the Windows Photo app video editor, put it down...
CaseIH 5240 and John Deere 582 Silage Special with Maxicut

Some actual farming from BarnyardEngineering! Don't hate me IH fans, but here we are making round bales with my newly acquired Deere 582 for my new haying business.
This doesn't sound good at all

Sketchy Pressing III: The Sketchshank Pressdemption
zhlédnutí 64Před 6 lety
I had to let my mind chew on this solution for a couple weeks. Ended up building an extension for my Harbor Freight press so the whole Cub mower driveshaft would fit in. My trusty chain hoist once again proved its worth, as did the cheap HF press.
Farmall Cub PTO Replacement Yoke

I may have found a solution for those of you with Fast Hitch Mott flail mowers, Woods RM42s, or even Howard Rotovators. It's the Weasler part number 105-0610. It fits on the Cub PTO splines and I think it can be machined to fit.

OR: A Cheap Press is Better Than No Press At All This is just to answer the question of how these crank pins are attached to the flywheel: They're just pressed in and peened over.
Sketchy Pressing with BarnyardEngineering

Trying to make one good Cub 22 sickle mower out of two. One drive has a chowdered driveshaft with a good crank pin, and the other has a good driveshaft with a chowdered crank pin. Couldn't get to the crank pins with the press, so I am just going to swap the whole flywheel.

Content on a budget: $500 tractor, $20 camera. As luck would have it, a large IH collector's estate sale came up for auction shortly after I bought the Cub. The bidding battle for the radiator was epic, but I got everything I needed.

Content on a budget: $500 tractor, $20 camera. Teardown continues. I'm concentrating on the front end, getting that rotten old radiator off. All the bolts came out, believe it or not. I never did figure out what that silvery sludge was, but at least it wasn't in the engine.

So how did you press to shaft back in it
Check out the final episode of the trilogy for my setup: czcams.com/video/wweWV7CDWqk/video.htmlsi=2ZmVPhwJ9rFcTsRr
Thanks for the update
Was that a case IH clutch that imploded, or aftermarket? Did u ever figure out why it let go? I just ordered a clutch kit from Hamiltonbobs for my cub. Hopefully that don’t happen to me. Thanks
Turned out that it was my screw-up while replacing the seal on the input shaft. In stabbing the tractor back together I "missed" and then forced it together which broke the clutch hub. Never force a tractor back together.
Why did you not ever show the removing the Lower Radiator hose in radiator removal which no one else does either. Is it a top secret or no one knows just how to do it and does what????? This is important to viewers to see how it is done.
Old video but in my opinion, got it too hot. Heated up end of crank along with it
Not at all. If I got the crank too hot the little bit of heat I added wouldn't have worked. Normally these are puled COLD with a 12T bottle jack. I just didn't have the right tools.
When you put it back together go to your local hardware store and buy stainless steel bolts and you will not have a problem with bolts seizing again. Did that with my JD model 70 about 20 years ago. Had to take out the radiator last sommer. And they all came out without a problem. Those old John Deere had cast iron upper and lower tanks.
If you have better lighting. Could y show exactly how everything is plumbed on the remote?
I really like it that setup too. The key to it is the bypass block. If you have a super c then the existing spool valve needs removed and that block from a regular c installed.
What is the part number for the pulley and seal I got one but not sure it’s right
it's your consumable. After one cut for steel that thick, it just wont' cut as pretty afterwards on the same consumable. What pressure were you using?
OK so the question that I have is I have a 656 Farmall international it will run will go forward and backwards everything works but when you try to steer the steering wheel left and right nothing happens doesn’t move at all have to manually press on the brakes on each side to get it to turn left and right what would the problem be can you please help me out
Just subscribed. We videoed some sketchy pressing today. pressed the really stuck pistons out of a H Farmall engine.
I too have an older AC stick welder. Would you be interested in selling that TC-150?
A mag lev system might work better no flat tyres
Yup. That whole thing turned out to be a colossal waste of time and money. Next spring when I went to move the camper back out, all the tires were flat and it was sunk into the gravel. None of the tires would hold air. All had split tubes. I've since torn it apart and used some of the wood to build a small hay wagon to put the camper on. That works much better.
Very nice, good to hear you are able to move it on the rock floor. I'm wanting to come up with something similair, Are you using seven 2 X 6 cross braces. It looks like your have 2 close togeather on each end?
That's the most fully equipped Super C I've ever seen
Wait until I profile the Worlds Most Pimped Out Farmall Super A.

hey there, thanks for making these videos. We have an old massey-harris 22 and this CharLynn power pac with a bracket for it. because of your videos I actually know what this thing is now. There's not markings on it now so it was hard to tell. the farm was my wife's grandfathers and so we think this all ran at some point. I'm wondering if you ever got yours running?
One comment & one question : if the junker converter is putting out about half power, how about the possibility that one side of the rectifier has gone out? There’s an owners manual at www.norco-inc.com/ASSETS/DOCUMENTS/ITEMS/EN/MIL-005656-Installation%20Instructions.pdf I’d think that if the coil insulation was gone, it would be doing bad sparky things instead of running at reduced power. Question - I’m trying to build one of these. Can you make an estimate of how many turns are in the transformer/ choke coil?
I’ll answer my own question. I just bought a TC-150. The choke coil has 4 layers of square wire stacked 13 high. About 52 turns! The coil just has one conductor. ( It’s not two or more parallel wires.) After seeing home brew converters with 5 and 10 turns, I didn’t expect this many. The square conductors at about 0.2” x 0.2”. 0.04 in2 or about 25.8 mm2. I scraped the insulating enamel off the square wire to the choke coil and it’s silver/aluminum colored. That seems really small to carry the full current. The Owners Manual doesn’t say anything but the front of the DC converter says “Maximum input 80V AC. Output 150 amps DC maximum. 20% Duty Cycle.” It seems strange that they don’t specify the maximum input amps. Lincoln rates their buzz box at 225AC/125DC. That’s 55% at the upper end. I think that’s reasonable in spite of some converter builders who claim to get 225AC and 225 DC. I’ve got to assume that Lincoln knows what they are talking about when they rate their 225AC/125DC buzz Box. I’ve got to assume that Miller knows what they are talking about when they put 50+ turns in the DC output choke coil. In the bottom photo, we’re looking at the fan, the rectifier diodes mounted on aluminum plates, and the aluminum choke coil to stabilize the DC. Not much luck with photos. I’ll give some details: At one end is a 80 volt, 3000 rpm fan connected to the AC leads. In the middle is the rectifier with 4 pigtail type 85 watt diodes - two straight polarity, and two reverse polarity. There’s a 100 amp fusible link between the connections for the AC leads. Maybe a hint on the maximum power although the Miller Owners Manual doesn’t say. Each pair of diodes is mounted on an aluminum plate 3” wide, 5 3/8” tall, and 1/8”thick. The reverse polarity side is connected to the ground clamp side of the DC by an aluminum strip 3/4” wide x 0.050” thick. The parts of the rectifier have small capacitors between components. These are shown in the owners manual.
Will that cut 6061 aluminum?
Nice machine
Just imagine if you had an open station tractor!! :)
I want that chisel plow... How much??
Sorry can't help you on the Windows 10 editor...
Thanks man, one of my recent updates deleted it anyway. I found PowerDirector and it's way better.
Cool stuff right there! Well, except for the snowstorm in May! LOL
This is painfully horrible to watch seems like you edited all of the in formable material and just left a bunch of fumbling
Yeah, I knew it wasn't my best work... The idea wasn't my best idea either.
Thanks for making the videos. I have an opportunity to get one of these power pacs and wondering if it would fit on my cub for a log splitter, what do you think?
Unfortunately the cub's pto is non standard and will not work with one of these units. It turns the opposite way, turns at 3x the 540 speed and is a different size. Unless you also have a pto reverser but those are rare.
were the consumables good?
What type of fitting did you JB weld to the carb and then how do you attach the fuel line?
Loved the 5 videos on CS pulley removal, I’m going to be doing the same since my seal is also leaking, I’m also planning on changing the radiator gasket for a slight leak. Is there any reason you didn’t just remove the radiator to have the required access to the pulley? I’m really not wanting to remove the entire front end since I’m having to remove the radiator anyhow.
I came from Mustie1's channel I also noticed that you subbed to a sous vide channel! It's one of my other hobbies. I got a good sous vide machine for Christmas.
Awesome, I've got one too.
Holy smokes how was that for ya?! Gotta love workin in the snow
I can adjust that later. Lol
You must be my twin brother !! "Parts run" umm oh "parts run". And again. Lol love it!

We just got a cub and it came with a mower. Everything is disassembled and I'm hoping this will help me get things together. Thank you.
Did the heat mess up seal? Did it leak after you got it running?
The oven was only 250 degrees. The oil gets much hotter than that in the engine.
jajaja good video
Nice rig!
I have cad really bad I have 3 650 pro's promac 1000 , the sleazy beaver , the timber jerk, stihl 461s big homelights and poopland saws
I've got one not as pretty as that machine but works great. Trying to watch videos to figure out how to build my own attachment. Great video and great looking tractor

Thanks for the useless video ass hole
This is the worst video I've ever seen. Takes and fucking lessons from someone
Never in my life have I seen me a side single arm side mounted bucket like that.. what a cute lil feller!
Oh yeah, the definition of "compact tractor" circa 1954. You should see it now, probably the most pimped out Super A on CZcams.
in my case I used a cheater pipe on the end of the wrench, And for the tight place large vice grips worked well
It's not overbuilt, that style of caster are generally ~220-330 lbs capacity. Not sure what his camper weighs, but my tiny little 7'8" Citation is over 3000 lbs as it sits. 10 x those are a minimum.
