If you are 20-miles out, nobody can hear them scream either. Someone who chooses to be way out, and all by themselves, is probably someone you don't want to mess with. A good pocket-knife (folding hunter) is in my opinion the best thing a person can carry.

WOW, for a 5-year-old video, there is a lot of valuable information in this video. The biggest point that we have learned from workamping is that beautiful places cost more to live at. Plus, what is the min wage in the state or area that you wish to work camp at.

I'm interested in living this way, but if you aren't significantly contributing to a retirement program or at least Social Security, how will you be able to continue this life with dignity as an older person...? I've watched many of these van-life videos, and nobody explains how this is accomplished. Beet harvesting is a very short term solution for a life-long challenge.... I bet most folks abandon this lifestyle after trying it for a while... My only fear is boredom... Waking up most days with nothing to do without much money to spend... It's self-induced poverty in exchange for having few responsibilities... Most of the folks shown in these videos are simply homeless, either by choice or by necessity... Its actually an interesting study in human behavior... If I can solve the money issue, I will give it a try... Some day... Maybe.

Becky, you mentioned Runaway Trailers which I also like. I believe all the runaways have three of their 4 models being 6' wide. The Runaways are bit less expensive, although all camper/trailer manufactures have price increases today, probably due to pandemic issue affecting availability of foreign materials. The runaways have the A/C unit; the Hikers have the rear galley. For myself, I thought the cabin small was too small until I rewatched Minivan Lees set up on Tristan Higby's Suv Rving. She has a minivan whose box (cargo area) is a bit smaller than the Hiker or Runaway. She lays down her bedding, places a few Sterlite's at the side and one end. During the day she rolls up her bedding and pads and put them on top of her containers, so she has open space during the day. Copying Minivan Lee's design, I can see how the 5x8 or 6x8 campers could work. Thanks for the tour.

Hi Becky, I don't know if you still read comments but here goes. My safety concern is should I have all- inclusive vehicle such as a type of van or a tow vehicle and a trailer, camper, or RV. In an all- inclusive vehicle you can jump in the driver's seat and just go. If you are "sleeping" in your camper and some rowdy folks or thugs come upon your site you have exit your 'sleeper' and get in your tow vehicle to drive away, exposing you to possible danger. The same is true, if there is a potentially dangerous, wild animal, such a bear, wolf, or rattlesnake outside your door. Many You Tubers preach what you are preaching, but dont address unplanned for dangers if you are not in a van type vehicle.

I'm building a teardrop style pontoon houseboat to live in and I'm entertaining a similar rationale for choosing to experiment with tiny/tinier. Having lived on a river boat before and experienced hurricane strength winds at anchor, a low cabin profile seems like a good choice, especially with the prospect of increasingly unpredictable weather patterns. Prioritising deck space over cabin space also appeals. Good luck and go with your gut!

Great no-build camper. Thanks for sharing it with us. But the contortions to get into the cot is a bit too much for me with back an neck arthritis. I would have to have the cot lower and enter from the rear hatch.
