Nothing to see here folks, just me complaining about yet another iconic television station being ruined by tegnas flat corporate graphics and minimal investment
WTVK became WKXT in 1988 when it moved from channel 26 to channel 8.

The period between 1994-95 involved the implementation of a tabloid format for the 11 pm newscast which caused ratings issues, and the same theme that was used at KSTP between 1992-94 for its 10 pm newscast was also used. The format was discontinued when the Balls and Walls graphics package was introduced.

My father made very good as a roofer but aside from making sure the Gas & Electric bills were paid--they would spend a few hundred bucks on groceries & sometimes other household stuff (& toys games & stuff for me that I wanted which my mother would sometimes argue with Dad to get for me when Dad would yell "WHAT DOES JASON WANT THAT FOR?!!") Dad did make good money as a roofer but Mom was very good at keeping an eye on the expenses(if she wasn,t drinking with Dad & getting drunk with him)😢😮CRAZY!!
After they finished spending a few hundred dollars on groceries on other things--they,d get their weekend drink on getting drunk & arguing with one another with Dad mostly doing the screaming & hollering before him & Mom would both be knocked out drunk while I,d be watching tv or left to fend for myself(mostly just making sandwiches & eating before going to bed myself)
If my memory serves me correctly WCCO TV CH.4,S helicopter was called LIVE EYE IN THE SKY!! & KSTP TV CH.5 HAD THEIR HELICOPTER AFTER CH.4 STARTED THEIRS CALLED 'SKY CAM'.I remember during the 7 years me & my mother & father were living in St.Paul Mn at 1182 Selby Ave-as I mentioned many times my late father Phillip Anthony Routhier (9-17-1924-8-6-2001)worked as a roofer for John H.Dalsin & Sons Inc.& Rainville Carlson Roofing Co & he would have weekends off most of the time & on those weekends Dad & me & my mother Lois Ann Routhier (10-28-1934-5-6-1984) would always spend most of Saturdays on shopping trips stopping at a number of different stores while Dad would be driving us in his old 1968 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser station wagon with a V8 engine & which Dad put 180,000 miles on that car & not once did it burn a drop of oil.Anyway on one of our shopping trips--I think one time I did see WCCO CH.4,s LIVE EYE IN THE SKY HELICOPTER 🚁 but as we were driving by we could only a small image of it BUT IT WAS CH.4,s helicopter because I remember seeing CH.4,s logo.I believe I was either 7 or 8 years old at the time & I think Mom saw it & pointed out to me & I got very excited about it.OMG!! We would be shopping at the old Sears on Rice St.off University Ave.Then the Target store in Roseville then sometimes we would make extra stops at Lunds Byerly,s & sometimes the Red Owl grocery store on Lake St.in Minneapolis. Then finally on the back home to St.Paul--then we would stop at the Red Owl grocery store at old Lexington Pkwy shopping center off of University Ave as well as the old MGM LIQUOR WAREHOUSE LIQUOR STORE to buy their gallon jugs of Inglenook Mountain Rhine wine(later on Almaden) to start their wknd drink on.
The early 80s theme Tuesday C was also on WDAU Newscene 22 Scranton/Wilkes-Barre from 1978-84
