I'm a normal magic fan, primarily focused on commander, hoping to show off some cool stuff. Tbh i have no video editing skill and really would take any suggestions/help. I really just want to put out cool ideas and hope players see cool cards/strategies and think outside the box. I mainly use the deck builder on my phone but I'm thegone123 on Archidekt or thegone101 on moxfield, but I rarely use them. Remember kids, only losers conceded pre turn 5. I also have a Cardsmith account thats Thegone1234 if you wanna see my custom cards. #mtg

Add a play set of both get and good
@@michaelbowen1838 lmao, ik how dare I try to get into a new format with fundamentally different deck building fundamentals and card pool to the formats I currently play, shame on me for wanting to play a more competitive format, and double shame on me for trying to play an underused deck archetype in that format instead of just copy pasting a Nadu or evoke deck list.
The way I approach deck building 1. What is my deck's gameplan? Properly defining this is the most important part of the process. 2. What cards can I use to achieve the goal? 3. Refine my card selection. How do the cards I chose tie in to the deck's gameplan. So for Burn: 1. Play inefficient, but cheap/easy to cast burn spells to race my opponent. Remember with Burn it is a sprint. Your card quality is inherently poorer than your opponent. If your opponent makes it to turn 4/5 without being dead or close to dead on board, you've probably lost the game. 2. You've already found some cards. 3. Now evaluate your cards based on how well they tie in to your gameplan. For example: Dauthi Voidwalker. a 2 mana 3/2 unblockable threat that's graveyard hate and a value piece. How well does that synergise with your deck's gameplan to race your opponent? It's a turn 2 play that is relatively easy to interact with, and doesn't interact with your opponent's life total when it's played. A sideboard card at best against graveyard strategies, but probably isn't fast enough for the burn plan. Also, decks like Burn also require a critical mass of cards that do damage to win consistently. a red burn deck with only 8 burn spells is not burn. Is it worth diluting your critical mass of burn spells to try and fit in a Grim Reminder package? Especially considering how slow the Grim Reminder package can be and you are introducing dead draws into your deck. A lot of Burn sideboards are about shutting out specific bad matchups, while still being a burn spell. 1 for 1ing when you're on burn is not great because, as I said above, your card quality is so much worse. A good way to test burn decks is to make the deck. Take the top 10/11 cards and then ask does this win the game? If so, what turn does it win by. Good luck
is this confirmed yet? this would be a win condition in ANY artifact deck! i got a mono-blue commander deck that just makes thopter tokens and this card would be rly good even if most of the artifacts dont rly cost much
99% it's confirmed if it's on mana box, yeah it's definitely a better card for like urza decks or any artifact commander Deck really than as a commander, but i thought it would be fun to build around it
ill sell you mine for 350$ i got all titans but 2 of them
Even if Ulalek can't copy the legendary Eldrazi permanents they are still potent in the deck because Ulalek copies their cast triggers. The destroy target permanents, the draws, the gain control, it copies all of that. Pretty busted in a casual format.
That's actually really cool, I totally forgot that cast abilities are triggered abilities
@@mtgman558 yup, so those people not playing the big splashy titans are missing out on powerful double triggers on very powerful effects. Not only that, even if they counter the summon, it won't stop the triggers since it is on cast. A cool interaction with the new Emrakul is if the summon is counter, the trigger will still happen and you permanently steal your opponent's creatures.
sakashima or mirrorbox to be able to copy legends without needing to sac
Ulalek can also copy annihilator triggers. So do with that what you will
@@alketsadedinaj3011 that's absolutely brutal, I'm going to keep that in mind
Because arena is av SECONDARY product.
People play paper magic…
wait people still play on arena?
I see the furstration and somewhat agree, but in my opinion they did the smart move and banned them. Also I believe timeless allows you to play everything still. I don’t think anything was banned from timeless
Because they were made for modern not historic?
Subbed 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
Played this last night. Used a combo mix of your build and the techs for decks video. Manaform Hellkite ended up being so needed because otherwise this deck has no flying defense, and one of my opponents was playing a dragon deck. Ended up winning even though I missed multiple land drops, this commander plus an extra combat phase through other cards is so powerful so fast
It's an extremely fun and powerful deck, I appreciate the feedback, the deck is definitely flying defense light outside of like copying a flyer with hate mirage
0:46 Are you sure is not hard? I heard that it's really hard 😂
Outlaws dropped, can confirm it is hard, going to go crazy with two commanders in the June event
@@mtgman558 nice!
Super happy with your ending and I'm super proud of the Magic community for being willing to call out shitty behavior.
Call it out? They're promoting and celebrating it.
Also, wouldn’t that demon guy just combo with sanctuary warden? So you could always get sanctuary warden back. Probably not strong enough for modern.
The shield counters on sanctuary ward just prevent damage and destruction, I don't think it would combo but I could be missing something
@@mtgman558 sanctuary warden says “remove a counter” so you just pick to remove the finality counter instead
@brendonford3838 just realized that's what you meant, it definitely works, but i think you're right about it being too weak for modern
Hexproof from activated and triggered abilities is so you can target it with your own abilities. Protection would make it hard to include in modern because it wouldn’t interact with half the stuff
That's a really good point, I completely missed that
"Commanders that already have abilities like partner won’t let players have more than two commanders at this event" the keyword is "like" so no extra backgrounds. But maybe still have two commanders and one companion?
I believe that's pointed to friends forever and doctors companion, choose a background has specifically different wording, a companion is still an option, but the wording "additional commander" leads me to believe you can have a commander, background, and additional commander as the partner text states "you can have two commanders" limiting you to two at any given time. As long as the background is counted as your second commander, you should be able to have a 3rd additional.
Oh my, they commented on commanders with partner allready but did they address choose a background? Can i have two choose a background and A choosen background or two
I'm going to make a short addressing this
Yeah I see that, I think your right 1 background 2 legends and heck why not choose the 101 card option and have a companion as well
Oh i commented deck ideas on the last one, what did you think?
Also first and secound
Saw some good ideas, I appreciate the positive outlook, I think this is just really a fun event to build some crazy decks for
@@mtgman558 thank you I think this is a really fun event, it's a shame more people can't see past the pretense for the event. Also just thought of this Kasla, the broken halo + Hogaak, arisen Necropolis (5c convoke?! Finally my kasla has the missing G it wants) (Also could pair with Emmara, soul of the accord, or radiator, coalition warlord, or Wylie Duke, atin hero, or Zar Ojanen for Blackless convoke)
@@mtgman558 game over I stitch down and pull out Ulamog, ceaseless hunt + Ulamog, the infinite gyre
@@fdrehug7318 if the modern horizons 3 emrakul is out by then, I'm playing double emrakul
I personally like the idea, and I'm creating a few decks
My deck holder holds 6 deck so I'm bringing two bazooka decks that are highly synergistic in zone and thus more powerful then casual My choices: Jodah the unifier + morpion the boundless (also like abanddon, the despoiler here) Jodah the unified + Atraxa, Grand Unifier (massive draw +cascade lol) Jodah the unifier +Kellen the kid (op combo in zone) The first sliver + morphion the boundless Chulane + Uro, titan of nature's wrath Shioldred, the apocalypse +siezan, prester of truth (to stay mono Black) Shieoldred, the apocalypse + Niv mizzet, parun. ( I also like lotus god here but that's less powerful in cmd zone) Commander guff + freylasies, llanowar fury (planswalker deck that spawns manna dorks, blackless, and has 2 planeswalker in zone) Different power level but i think are fun Calamity, galloping inferno + Ghired, concave exile (free copies of non legends that stick around with layering stack) Lord wind grace + omnath, locus of creation (landfall +land recursion) (plenty of options here too, yuriok for double landfall, muldrotha for even more recursion, locus of rage for more wide, soul of windgrace... for the ohs,)
(Etali primal storm + Etali primal conquerer) Poulkinos reborn + zaxara, the exemplary (or magnus Lucia kane) The wise mothman + The master, Transcendent (Or the mycrotyrant, or Tasha, or the mymioplasm)
I feel like sholdred with nekusar will definitely be a brutal option if you haven't already thought of that one. Definely some fun ideas
@mtgman558 yeah there are some good sheoldred options, I think placing the engine +wincon that is sheoldred next to the wincon niv mizzet parun is ridiculous
@mtgman558 NGL this event has me wanting to tryout new strategies Such as Katrina, aspect warper + indomitus Rex, alpha Keyword soup, but crazy
Gross, glad I quit.

And thats your right to do so
I mean yeah but still I legit know a lot of people that started to buy packs and build decks that were on the 13 -14 age and they haven’t said anything until this whole “bring pride to mtg a card game” and they’ve told me that it kinda shouldn’t be apart of it due to how much stuff is around pride and to just leave this out of it
Yep. Exactly. Also, if you think pride is inherently bad and something kids shouldnt see....then youre the exact reason we need pride in the first place.
I don't think there's anything bad about it but there's so many people with the "It's corrupting the children" mindset that I just thought it's worth addressing
No matter what anyone thinks about pride it’s a card game grow up it’s a company they are gonna do something every other company did it’s just 1 more and it’s a silly card game with magic foxes and Jace in a cowboy hat
Gotta give a shout-out to kynaios and tiro for being one of the earlier representations of lgbt In magic
Real, gay kings
Manabox mentioned, liked.
This is the problem. People don't think this garbage is a big deal. Kids play magic. Combining "pride" with kids should result in prosecution.
The game has 13+ stapled onto every package its aimed to teens, not children, while I agree there's a time in a child's life when sexuality has no Part in their life, 13 to the later teen years is when sex ed is taught, they know it exists, it's not hurting anyone, it's no big deal cause it isn't a deal at all.
@@mtgman558 Would you feel the same about putting pro weed stamps, or having strippers at a tournament? This is the same thing. Degeneracy is degeneracy, and it should never be promoted or associated with a game aimed at minors.
People have gay parents dude. While this event is pandering for profits- this “it’ll affect the kids” moral bullshit is just you yapping. Accepting sexuality has been in the social consciousness for over 3 decades now. Grow the fuck up.
@@stevenhervey7177 real
@@mtgman558 If you think it's not a big deal, you don't even know what "pride" actually represents.
Wizards only pretends to give a shit so they can improve their ESG score. This is all about money, so yes, it is pandering. Ironically enough though, the people they're pandering to still hate them.
Holy shit appealing to a certain audience is a way to make money, even though it's an event for a casual format where wizards won't get any money besides the lgs buying inventory, who'd of guessed it.
dunno why it matters if ur gay or not to play magic. i guess Hasbro is trying to glean money from the LGBTQ community now
It doesn't matter who you are to play magic, it's just a bit of fun, and celebrates a group of people who are part of the community. It's not like the event is limited to just people of lgbt+, anyone can go.
I can’t believe they would actually print a card like that. The -7 ability is garbage and is way too hard to even achieve in the first place.
I know right, really dissapointed we're getting under powered pack filler in such an important as modern horizons 3
What app is this?
Manabox, its really solid and constantly updated, there's certain limits if you don't have premium tho (it's like 2 bucks)
Great thanks. Also subbed! @mtgman558
Cloven casting is a random enchantment that is 7 mana but can copy more instants or sorcery spells by paying 1
Definitely a good choice for the deck, wish is was cheaper tho (mana wise)
Cabal Coffers in mono black is actually pretty decent
Lol yeah, even on like rakdos or anything running urborg it can be really good
No Storm Crow?
Idk how I could've missed it, it puts your opponent on a 40 turn clock
Gay
Pan, but you were close
too obvious, no payoff
Trying way too hard
U right
bad meme channel
Hilarious 😂
When i was reading this, i was expecting it to say like, it deals damage to itself. But what this actually reads is, "if you win the flip 😃👍, if you lose the flip, win the flip instead"
Basically lol, there's no real losing here
Funny I just threw together a pile of cards in preparation for Obeka and then this video pops up in my feed and you just started naming off a lot of what is in my list lol Culling Scales is potential spice, Midnight Clock is another “slow” card she can speed up for good payout, and River Song’s Diary for free chaos
Midnight clock is a really solid addition I missed, probably one of the few places I'd run it
Talking strategy about an obvious line... Sheep be Sheeping
Idk some people are new to the game, I figure better mention it just in case
@@mtgman558 Yeah.... and you hope they follow your advice....like a lemming ...or sheep... its a never ending loop. nothing personal
@bubblecheese2506 I'm just showing off a deck, it ain't that deep
Consultation/thoracle is an odd choice for a non cedh deck. I feel like most casual tables wouldn’t take kindly to that
That's true, I thought thoracle might be important since there's a ton of draw potential and I kinda just threw consultation in cause it can win but I'd probably take it out for more casual tables, granted you could still just use it as a tutor and ignore the synergy
This reminds me of an old percon deck from the future sight block. It's a blue (maybe blue/black) suspend deck that uses upkeep manipulation to cast suspended cards way faster than average.
Just checked out the list and it's pretty cool, a lot of the cards would work well in the list, I just didn't want to go all out on suspend
@@mtgman558 totally fair, I was just making a comment. If a card or 2 from it helps your list though, sweet! Lol
Would you mind sharing the decklist? For example in the video description
Certainly, I'll edit it in (done)
@@mtgman558 thanks a lot!
Just realized it's ANYWHERE besides your hand lol, so flashback would also be a good option
Does her ability trigger for each point of damage? I thought that it was once per combat damage
It says "you get that many" so I'm assuming many means multiple/one per point of damage
Yeah no your right I misread that lol
Love this deck tech! I love the idea of rebound cards like World at War, distortion strike and Ojer Pakpatiq, win cons like mechanized production, tavern brawler for pumps, and struggle for project purity for some crazy card draw. Keep up the content!
Thanks, and really good suggestions, completely forgot about tavern Brawler it would be a solid fit
World at War doesn't work as well because it specifies after the "first" combat on your turn
