"Gentle Asclepius, the craftsman of new health for weary limbs and banisher of pain, the godlike healer of all mortal sickness."
- Pindar, Pythian Ode, 5th century B.C.
Song title:
Vediovis, the Etruscan
The origins of healing in Europe can be traced to the sanctuary of Asclepius, a hero, the son of Apollo, and the God of medicine in Greek mythology. In the sanctuaries (or temples) of Asclepius, music played a key role, along with the use of the lyre to soothe those who suffered.
These holy sites, with the sanctuary of Epidaurus in their center, date back to the 2nd millennium BC and were used for ceremonial medical practices. Additionally, in the 8th century BC, the Epidaurus sanctuary became associated with the cult of Apollo.
The healing music in this music album was composed using two fundamental blocks of ancient world music: the ancient lyre of Apollo and several ancient Greek modes.

All the lyrics are improvised so there is not translation!
@@SEIKILO I see. What's the meaning of βακανία, though?
@@antoniocjp5824 Hi, Antonio. “Vacania" was written to soothe the psychē of the listener and travel his mind to distant tranquil places. In Greek mythology, the story of Psychē, a young princess, is about the soul redeeming itself. For the Greeks, psychē also meant "butterfly," something that suggests how the ancient imagined their soul. We hope that helps!
@@SEIKILO Thank you, it does that indeed. I just asked because I started learning Greek recently 😊
Yes, so soothing & peaceful the music to my senescence's.
Thank you!

Thank you for the lesson! Another funny way I found during my experiments in order to determine the harmonics is, if the other strings is exactly tuned, to do the #2 operations and, in the same time, observe when the other string which shares the same sympathetic vibration frequency resonate through the instrument. For exemple, when I searched the fifth on the G string, the D string vibrates at the moment i found the spot.😁The B string vibrates when the third's point of the G string is touched and so on... We can also do the opposite: you strum the D string while moving your finger on the G string until the latter starts to vibrate: the fifth's point is found! 🎶
Reading "The Bacchae" and this adds so much flavour to the Chorus! Thank you!
The ancient Greek name for that percussion instrument was "tumpanon", not "bendir".
That is correct. The frame drum is the most common type of percussion and has different names depending on which civilization you are referring to. This video features the combination of different ancient music civilizations, represented by different musical instruments (the ancient lyre for the ancient Greek civilization, the bendir for the ancient Mesopotamian civilization, and the vocals for the ancient Chinese civilization). If that same frame drum was meant to represent ancient Greek civilization, then the most appropriate name would be "τύμπανον"! I built my grandaughter a 19 string "Irish lap harp", (but really not lap friendly) and she has been taking lessons , and enjoying the harp, for 2 years. But I would like to make a more portable , "simpler" instrument, which she can integrate with her harp skils. What harp do you play ? I think I could make it! But maybe with a few more strings? You have wisdom and beauty ! Paul

How many strings is this lyre you play ?
This is a 7-string lyre, and you can follow all the available online courses with this one. But, if your budget allows it, then choose a 9-string lyre (or even with 11 or 13 strings). As you advance in your lyre journey, the extra strings can unlock hundreds of songs without the need for virtuoso playing techniques! Let us know if you need further help!
