Cimbalom Comparison: MIDI, East West Gypsy, and Moldova Concert

The East West player feels weird to maneuver. EW Gypsy cimbalom has 3 articulations (single, double, tremolo). The sustain has 2 values, you either are in no sustain or full sustain. The sustain knob from 0 to 49 does nothing. From 50 to 100 is full sustain. EW Gypsy is 12 Gb. The Moldova concert cimbalom is a Kontakt instrument. With many programs, 21 by the way. Is 3 GB. soundcloud.com/jugger...

    The English subtitles in this video are wildly inaccurate. Whoever wrote those did a poor job, because in some places they don't match what is being said at all. Here's my attempt at a better translation that preserves the actual meaning of Kilar's response: - When composing, do you follow the logic of sound or the logic of emotions? Do you build emotions, or do you build an abstract sound structure? - The answer is very simple: until you put the first note down on paper, you follow the logic of emotions - and once you have started writing the music down, you follow exclusively the logic of sounds. This is a very precise answer to your question. From the moment you start to write, there is no more Poland, or God, or life, or eternity, or the cosmos, or humans. Only notes remain. If the emotional motive persists during the process of writing, it will only lead to contrived nonsense. One time, a young man visited me and showed me a violin piece he wrote. As everyone knows, the violin has 4 strings, so you can at most play four-note chords on it, and that's with difficulty. That young man was writing 11 and 7-note chords. I asked him: "Sir, how does this work? You cannot play more than four sounds at a time on a violin." "But that's not important. After all, this piece is about..." I don't remember, it was about... God, or Poland, or something lofty like that. So, no. After you've started composing, you must strictly follow the logic of notes.

      Thank you, these are the kind of comments that I wanted. Since the interviews were not translated to English, I took the CZcams auto transcripts and put them in auto translators. At the moment there is no English biography of this composer, not even a translation. I think there is one in Polish. That's why the full videos have CC subtitles instead of burned-in ones, and sometimes I put [pending subtitle] on them. The auto transcript makes mistakes, and sometimes doesn't know what is being said. Maybe there's not enough demand for a Wojciech Kilar's biography published. It could then be an audiobook.

From the impression I had when I met him, just a few years ago, I thought of him as a sorcerer with eternal life - in a good way. The overall image of Dragon Quest was determined by a number of wonderfully impressive masterpieces by Sugiyama-sensei, who has loved games since way back then. It is no exaggeration to call them that. It was a great honor to work with you for a long time! I pray for your soul from the bottom of my heart." thedaoofdragonball.com/blog/news/akira-toriyama-comment-koichi-sugiyama-death/

  • @theprior46
    @theprior46 Před 4 měsíci

    From a musician's point of view - it was very hard, impossible in fact to really understand what he was meaning. He knew how to simplify and analyse the psychology but just like you never know anything about the music a composer creates just be getting to know the person that creates it, so too you can't really feel what Bill Evans felt as his brain was unique. His brain-wiring was different from anyone else's. He was both left-handed and ambidextrous at the same time. I think the same rules apply as did studies of Oscar Peterson - namely you could practice 8 hours a day for 30 years and you still won't be able to play like Oscar did. As Steve Davis the Snooker champion said, "There's such a thing as natural ability". I know what he meant!

    • @thekinghasnoname4858
      @thekinghasnoname4858 Před 4 měsíci

      @theprior46 Hi, I'll straight up tell you that I know what Evans meant. And I might as well say that this could also meant my brain is wired closer to what his' was wired but nevertheless, I also agree that almost everyone who trained 8 years a day for 30 years wouldn't be able to play at Oscar Peterson's level, but I would also say that I could play even better than him in 5 years. I'll prove that in the next few years. My Piano music channel will probably start by the end of 2024. For now though, here's my theoretical explanation to what Evans was talking about: So far, despite centuries of musical collective knowledge, we still know very little about harmony and melody. So the question "what is Music?" is still unresolved. In that scenario, Evans is talking about a more Completionist approach to Harmony knowledge, when referring to the problems in this clip he's trying to tackle questions such as "if one would master Harmony in jazz piano, how would he go about it?", which lead him to the answer that one would have to tackle every music problem from the outside (human general knowledge of music), one by one, until mastery. All that for him to play by ear at will and with complete control. So at least according to this brief clip, all Bill was trying to accomplish was basically achieving Mastery in music, at least relating to jazz piano practice at the time. He also picks himself out to be not the most talented but the most consciously persistent with this particular quest, as I suspect he's trying to point out that most talented musicians are not interested in such questions as they find their talent sufficing despite them never achieving conscious levels of Music Complete Mastery. I'd argue that Evans was on to something and had the potential to achieve this project with full potential, but he only mastered music within the context of jazz piano limited to his own sensibilities, perception and zeitgeist at the time. I, on te other hand, plan to achieve true Complete Musical Mastery that goes well beyond my particular perception, sensibilities and that surpasses even any genres an musical traditions particularities, as well as surpassing even current zeitgeist in every regard. Well to be exact, my musical knowledge will be the NEW zeitgeist in due time.
