Clapton’s never done a bad version of this song. My personal favourite is the one on Just One Night, with Albert Lee. Some furious wah wah licks - the second solo is insane. But it’s all personal taste - I don’t buy into this ‘best ever’, because it’s all down to what you personally prefer. But this version kills as well. I love Nathan East’s bass playing - that man bosses it every time.

I have I guess just the regular release of unplugged and this isn't on it. I wish it was!!

Ever since I first heard heard Eric way back when I was just a young lad of about 12 - way over 50 years ago now....I knew in my music loving heart that I was hearing something special. Boy was I right or what. He is just a musical gift to us all.

I remember this song, right after my divorce, I would play it for my children before I dropped them off, asking them if they knew what the song was about. They didn't know, so I told them and we all cried wondering how one could go on after this tragedy. MY son was 12 then. He died when he was 27 and the grief as bad, if not worse.
