I think this fails to understand what exactly is going on in a mass effect field, at least as I I've read them. From what I understand, a mass effect field does not increase or decrease the mass of the objects within the field, but rather the total mass of the field itself. Eezo creates dark energy, which raises or lowers the total mass of a volume of spacetime. So when you're traveling FTL in ME, you're not massless, but the volume of space containing your ship is. Of course, even if this worked irl, it wouldn't allow you to move FTL irrespective of relativity, but it's at least a cool sci-fi concept.
