You may be amazed at how random my (well, mostly the entire) channel is. lol
I love Harry Potter, The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Ranger's Apprentice, STAR WARS, SpongeBob, and a ton of other stuff. I usually just act goofy 'cause normal's boring, or spend time reading/writing books, making my own necklaces and editing videos (most of which are here on my channel). Enjoy them! :D

Ok so in laymen's terms if you have a slight twist with your palm tilted towards the string, your forefinger can be slanted downward under whichever feather/vane is piking outward. So then, especially if the arrow shaft is already against the handle, you can slide it directly onto the string since you've got your other fingers out to grab the string at the same time.

You know something? My son and I love The Iron Giant. By the way, good work.
Amazing.
Good job. But did you do both parts?
very detailed explanation, thank you
😁😁😁
Hoping my own journey will take me home soon.
This short must be animated!
Did this happened in the book?
I adapted it as close to the beginning of KAA'S HUNTING as I could, at the time I only had about 2 days at the most before the film equipment had to be returned and there was only so much I could do. But yeah, the film MOWGLI hadn't come out yet and I wanted to use my puppets rather than gamble on being able to get people with me for it with such a time punch. So I used my puppets and such, felt cool to work with stuff that's actually in Kipling's book, I've read it three times.
@@DerekBartlettBeorn so why didn't you make the complete story?
@@pedrogabrielduarte4544 not enough time with the equipment and I didn't have the props to do the rest. And our projects could only be a few minutes anyway.
@@DerekBartlettBeorn can you remake It? With the Full story?
For Jerry the cat 2003-2016 he will be missed!
I did not see the whole of th trilogy of film of the J.R.R. Tolkien novels. We didn't here in the USA, right? I thought it was "trimmed up".
when i made this video the third Hobbit movie hadn't come out yet
I loved your sarcasm.
The acting was as spot on as it was in the movie 👍🏻
So I started archery January 20, 23, with a Mongolian style horse bow (fiberglass limb 35lb @28in). I seem to be going down a similar path studying and practicing. tactical archery. I was curious how difficult it was jumping from a 30lb to a 40lb bow? Either way, thank you for the great content. I am now a new Sub! Keep up the good work and God bless you in your journey. 😁😎
That's an interesting question. Well, for example with me even though my fingers are incapable of building up calluses (I know cause I've been trying for years) I can use a 30lb barehanded. The 40lb one there, I either need a glove or my finger tabs cinched onto my middle and ring fingers. I would say that's the biggest difference aside from how the effort put in from the shoulder muscles is even more essential. Because of that, most of the time when I'm out of practice I end up using my 30lb, but these days I've been using my 40lb barehanded because I adapted to this 'archery' hack that I learned from Mack, Charlie, and from Mihai Cozmei; you put a nocking point UNDER where the arrow goes, then you wrap the nocking point and the "fingers area" altogether with an even-enough layer of athletic tape---the smoother the better to give you a clean shot. So then you can hold it barehanded and can feel the nock groove of each arrow easier and all. I'm still working on the dexterity with that, not focusing on the speed so much right now, since I'm not used to having any kind of nocking point on my bowstring anymore---they would typically dig into the serving material with my 30lb till the string itself snapped and I kept getting replacement strings till I said "no more", but with the layer of polycotton tape for cushion and all then it can't do that. I've been taking Mack's advice by holding the arrow nocks between the *middle finger and thumb* in a "cradle" as he puts it, the forefinger only being used to guide the arrow into place and hold it against the bow. His tutorial on Slavic is really good. So yeah the main thing from switching to a higher draw weight is putting your shoulders into the draw even more and having protection for your fingers. Hope this helps, God bless your archery journey too.
Hey Derek, I ran across your channel today watching an older video. I was going to comment and say that your bow arm shoulder was resting too high. But then I decided to watch a new video, and I see you have improved your posture. Looking good bro, keep up the good work. If you haven't fixed it already one thing I have done for my leather thumb ring is put a little oil on it, like a baseball mit or get a little moist with warm water. Then just start working it into shape, let it dry. I hated my thumb ring until I did this and now I can't even tell I'm wearing it most of the time.

Looks like you’ve been busy my friend, again thank you Derek for sharing I need to start working on this stuff 👍🏼 God bless my friend.
Thanks! Dave Mead's speed nocks are real handy. I just put one of those overlap nocks on another arrow---I hand-sawed off the self-nock, tapered it to a pencil point with a sharpener, and then glued the nock over the bamboo. So in a while I'll add the athletic tape and then the glue/polish so it's not so sticky but still has the grippy texture.
OK brother I see what you’re saying. Great video. And I can see why you take that interpretation, we as a community need to research this more. I love dialogue like this.
Thanks man! And yeah I was kinda like "Ok I have GOT to do the video message/tutorial before it gets too cold to use my "real" arrows outside. And same with using that particular bow, closest to their brace heights. With your simsek bow, if it's not shaped to hold the arrows this way right above the feathers, you'll probably get good speed with that "almost halfway point" thing where you grab the nock and slide it upward before nocking. Smoother than I thought it'd be especially if you're just starting to practice isolating the arrows one by one.
Well, the roads go ever ever on
Hi Derek, I came across your channel few days ago. Super happy I did. Great content my friend! Always great to meet another Archer. Cheers Cody! 🏹🎯
Awesome, thanks! I'm always grateful to see those who appreciate "tactical archery" and other methods in that ballpark
Nice shooting brother and thank you for the information appreciate ya, God bless. Keep up the good work!

AIM SMALL MISS SMALL. I love it brother
I heard this a lot and it makes sense. I was shooting at a stuffed animal from 20 yards and decided to Aim at a Gatorade cap after hearing "aim small miss small" in my head. It worked! I shot 2 different bottle caps within 15 arrows. It feels amazing to do something you didn't think was possible. Thank you guys for all the info and helping out the archery community.
Absolutely love this. And I love how I said God gave us 2 eyes 👀 so let’s use em both. Amazing video brother

Great job!
Nice job good explanation
cool, i've just bought that same bow (looks near identical, anyway, dod you put that grip on yourself? if so, what is it?). having trouble figuring out what arrows to buy for it. what do you use?
I typically use bamboo arrows, they're really strong I use them for my 40lb bow too (that one in the video is my 30-pound for experimenting and such so there's less risk of losing my arrows and such). But also for the sake of experimenting and anticipating losing my arrows, those three are aluminum alloy and are way more expendable. That and fiberglass those are the easiest to get but bamboo arrows are really good, I get the 31 inch kind
And I didn't put the grip on myself but the leather above the handle wore out and got torn up so I got a roll of adhesive-backing leather from 3Rivers Archery
you are very funny and i love that. you are Mr. Bean 2
