Old rivets needed to be replaced so I drilled the heads off the old ones and replaced them with new aluminum rivets.

where do yo buy the mast rising system and how much?
It came with the boat luckily…. I no longer have this boat regretfully… I now have a Mac 26x
Where did you purchase the block and tackle for the gin pole? Need one for Catalina 18. thank you
Check out Catalinadirect.com they may have something
@@gregripko ok, thanks
Can you tell me where the hall identification number is on this boat, I'm having a hard time finding one on a similar boat
Great. Thanks so much for all of your post... I have a 14ft dingley and I'm now ready to make the leap into purchasing a larger boat.. All your videos are exactly the boats that I've been looking at.. I need your opinion as to which boat you like the best..????... Catalina 22,macgregor 26,mcgregor19 or the Hunter 19...( Your opinion will play heavily on my purchase)
Nice job Greg but - You left out the use of your mini shrouds (which you have attached to your stanchions) - and to the ??? mainsail halyard? I usually attach my mini shrouds to the spinnaker ring on the mast. The mini shrouds are critical to prevent the mast from moving port and starboard as the mast rises. When the mast is below 45° it is VERY unstable laterally otherwise - because the main shrouds are slack.
Hi, would you like to sale it?
Important point, Make sure the boat is aimed into the wind, or else!!!!!!!
Do you still Sail with it?
Looks dangerous
Hey I have one of these boats it's in pretty rough shape mainly the riggings all the wires the main sheet, all the pullies. Do you know where would be a good start to find what the equipment is that I need. Like websites, owners manual, etc. The trailer is in very rough shape so taking it somewhere is out of question until that gets fixed or repaired
Any help is greatly appreciated man
Hey Greg. Do you want to sell your boat ? Thanks.
Already sold it a while back…. I now own a Macgregor 26x
Hey. Nice boat. Do you still own it ? Michael
Very good
most awesome! I have a hunter 260, I do it the same way.
Brilliant! ty
I need to buy block tackle /pulley/winch stuff for my 19 ft Oday... where is a good place for a good deal , thanks
Just use your main sheet and blocks.
SWEET, good for you!!!
I did see these in sailing magazine ads in the UK and did consider one, but ended up with a British Hunter 26 which was ideal for channel crossing to France or the channel islands. The hunter was not great in light winds, but for a small yacht was very safe in extremes.
great system. Thanks
5 minutes is NOT FAIR. The setup time and put-away rigging items was not accounted for. Other than that, I enjoyed your video demonstration Greg.
Carb and prop kit and it's a 6hp
Great video. We're looking at purchasing our first sailboat (Macgregor). It has a swing keel. Stupid question but trying to figure out how those actually work. Do you have any video on that by chance? Any type of checklist or things we should look for or inspect on it? Sails and rigging look to be in good shape. Thanks.
where can you get the pole raising system?
Nice 👍🏻
is it for sale ?
show mast step ?
Anyone who tries to reproduce raise the mast. The author of this video, for some reason, said absolutely nothing about the fact that he is using temporary shrouds in order to prevent the mast from falling to the sides. Note that they are taut during lifting and keep the mast in a vertical plane. Do not raise a mast without those temporary (raising) shrouds!!! It is extremely dangerous!!!
Can you put that in a standard garage? Height and length on trailer?
If you removed the mast potentially but I never attempted. I actually sold this boat for something else so I couldnt tell you the length of boat and trailer at this time
Just came across you video...how well does the Tacoma handle towing? I have a 98 V6 Tacoma and was wondering if it could handle all that boat. Thanks!
V6 shouldn’t be an issue. Think you could tow up to 5,000lbs. Just make sure trailer has working brakes for emergency stops….. drum or disc work fine.
great costal cruiser, perfect for a weekend of sailing and camping. Hope you enjoy
does your roller furling have foils?
Which rivet gun did you buy ?
Looks.like the harbor frieght gun made by pittsburgh which I used myself for same purpose.
@0.38 "top of the mast" ????????? This is the FOOT of the mast!
Correct….. foot
Very nicely done :)
Thanks for the tour. Was looking at your rigging. I am clueless as to how to set it up. This helped a lot..Thanks!
Good video thanks! How does the gin pole attach to the mast?? Do you have a close up photo, Thanks
That's the problem with all these videos, they don't show a close up or diagram how the gin pole attaches which next to the additional stays is the most important part. Other than that, great video and helpful.
great video, thanks from Switzerland
Does the hunter heel and flop like the Mac?
Thanks for video!! Have any idea of how to do on a large boat? Like a Morgan 35?
Unfortunately not…. CZcams is a great source though.
Just noticed the other comments. Nice boat. Stable. Would not feel comfortable in high winds but I still consider myself a novice
Greg Great videos on the 19-2. Have had one for a few years. But a problem. My Flexible Furler binds as I furl the sail. Second problem is that the top of the furler get entangled with the jib Hayward. I tried to pull it tight vertically so it ran close to the mast but it still tangles. Any ideas. TomFlatley@gmail.com. 6094102445 call. Thank you. Tom
How do you determine how long the baby stays need to be? I have a boat recently purchased, and have never seem the mast up.
The baby stays came preset…. No adjustment needed as they used pelican hooks to tighten
I believe they must be attached on either side of the mast pivot point. The length would depend on how far apart they start and how high up the mast they attach to. If they are not on either side of the mast pivot point (aft/fore or up/down) they will either get tighter or looser as the mast rises.
Thats a steal! Looking for an Mac x now and its gonna be $10k+.
That's cool , you are right there at the gin pole stopping it from falling over . Safety stays on the pivot plane of the mast. Good job
very good friend, but how long is this mast?
Very cool ride Thank you for showing
Bought out Mac26X new in 1998 ,best money we ever spent.. trailered it to every pot hole in Alberta ,then to Ontario lower Great lakes and then 12 times to the PNW
How tall are you? Looking to get one and I’m rather tall.
I’m 5’ 10” ....can’t stand completely throughout boat .....but it’s probably the best trailer sailer out there
@@gregripko yeah all the trailer sailers I’ve looked into that seems pretty good!
Amazing sail boat..... please also visit us..and sub
