The story behind this song is self evident. I wrote, performed, recorded and mixed every part of the song as an intentional sequel to Randy Newman's 'Louisianna, 1927'... but without the Randy Newman ironic edge. It's a straight-ahead, sad ballad about the human cost of Mother Nature running wild. I was not going to finish this song since I did not get it close to done before the story of Katri...

Best version of this track I have heard.Well done fellas!
Love this version of this song. This mix puts Lonesome Dave out front and the drive really livens things up. Nice.
Hey Rick, Y'all are really good.Grow up down the street from you on Bonaire thanks for sharing your music,Dan Heger little sister, Maureen Heger Ramage
Damn, autoplay gave me a little present!
finally ... a modulation . . . almost like the original . . . nicely done Bolt Hill Band !!!!
So beautifully done
Absolutely love this! Fantastic song....long all of the blues overtones you use in this! Great voice Rick!
Rick....hey there! One of my favorites! You sound great old friend.....hope you are well!
God damn professional! With room for an own voice leading to put on it. Perfect playing with microphone distances, giving volume on the right places. Perfect speed. I always hated Manfred Mann. But this song, in this blue grass version, lyrics and music - a paradise of sound. I call it dirty old white men music - and I love it! Great work, men! Respectfully, from a land, formerly known as Germany.
Great singing but the breaks in the song where the rhythm drops out ruins it for me. You don't hear Tom T Hall doing that crap, bad arrangement, bad ideal!
Love the Song and I Absolutely Love Your Version...Really Really Pleasant...
Very good glad to have listen to this
Wonderful. Thank you.
pure tallent

Is there anybody who can tell me if these good old boys have released some records?
Hee haw.
Bluegrass never die! Thank you from Genova, Italy.
Sounds good boys. Keep on pickin' The Ralph! Bass mic picked up that doghouse really good. Good lead and harmony vox. And the minnow dipper was kickin it.
tremendous
David used our living room for practice prior to his bands gig in the old port in Portland Me. II was entranced.I had 2 friends who were part of his band
He walks through the corn on his way to the river, His comb over shines like fool’s gold in the hot morning sun. He took all the love that the suckers could give him, And left them to die like a fox on the run. Everyone knows the reason for the fall, A grifter tempted suckers in the republic’s hall. A fraudster tempted us and took us for a ride, Now like the lonely fox we need a place to hide. We’ll pour a glass of wine to fortify our souls, We’ll talk about the past and the country we used to know. I see a string of grifters who put us on the floor, The game is nearly over and the hounds are at our door.
Nice !
Y'all know this is a hippy song!
Lovely playing and some real clean and rich vocals. Cheers for this mate 👍🏼

Here's the original song - czcams.com/video/2zqFDRA1HY8/video.html
OUTSTANDING 5 string lead off of a classic song.
Love the voices and the picking.
Beautiful!
Awesome!!
Thats a Tony Rice song you heathens. Hugh who? That cover sucks. no wonder yours does. Learn your history.
It's OK that you don't like our take on this song. That's subjective. However, it's not OK for you to not know who wrote the song but then attack us based on your misinformation. I won't do the homework for you but if you Google 'who wrote Carolina Star?' you'll learn something... and maybe you can apologize for the first part of you comment. I actually knew Tony and he also knew who wrote the song. Again, I am fine with you not liking our version... can't please everybody. But dig a little deeper before you expose your ignorance. It could save you some embarrassment.
You guys absolutely nailed it!
Great mix!
A great rendition 🙂
